Yup, they are a basically a graphic front end for you phone. The apps use your phones cell connection as I understand it.

I think it will depend on the app. Some will use the built in service and some will use your phone or both.

I certainly didn't hinge anything on this feature.

I'd rather them focus on bugs/glitches.

Once started, you can use the skip and pause on the stereo.

All will use your own phones data plan. You just control through the app

Re: uConnect Apps?

How much hell would UConnect raise if their vendors shorted them in terms of promised performance and/or delivery dates?

Re: uConnect Apps?

Yep. My point earlier was if they can't deliver the apps then they need to simply take them off the website.

JD is referring to the software update for the radios... it is going to happen before the app launch.

Re: uConnect Apps?

Maybe the software is causing some glitches or problems with the apps running properly. Makes sense.

I am not as in tune with what is going on with apps but yes there have been updates and changes to the APP implementation the last few releases. The software will be available for the radio update in the next couple of weeks (in theory)

Re: uConnect Apps?

Since the Uconnect Access can send commands (in theory) to the unit, I am wondering whether that same capability will be expanded to include SW updates on the fly as opposed to having to take the vehicle to a dealer.

Only apps... Not core radio firmware/software.

Re: uConnect Apps?

never... a 500mb download on 3g would take way too long. and if the signal failed, the dl would need to restart.

Willx, do you know if there are other app companies working on apps for uconnect other than the ones Chrysler has advertised?
