UConnect Map update problem

I ordered the new map update for my Uconnect system and I got it from the mail today. However, after hours talking to the representative from HERE.COM. I have no luck installing the new update.

Before you can order the map, you have to have your VIN and Request Code in order to order from their website. The Request code can be find under System Information on the UConnect System.

The $149 package came with 2 USB drive, one is drive contain the UConnect v14.25.5 update. You need to install the v14.24.5 update before you updated map. In my case, I updated long time ago, so this step wasn't need.

Then, I have to insert the second USB drive into the USB input under the UConnect system. Once you insert the USB drive, you need to wait roughly 2-3 minutes to have the USB loaded up and a message show up if you need to installed the map.

I hit Yes and you will need to type in the Activation code I got from the confirmation email. I type the first time, it show me a message saying "Error Code" so I re-type and make sure there were no mistake. (You don't need to type in those dashes on the code).

So, I called UConnect Assist and they told me I have to called HERE.COM customer service. I told the HERE representative what happened and she told me the request code changed every time you restart your car, so the request code is no long valid. She asked me the "current" request code and she gave me a new Activation code and still doesn't work.

After turning off the car, left for the system to a completely shut off. I gave here a new request code and we try a new set of Activation code and it failed as well. She endup need to sending my case to someone to a upper level in order to get is resolved. She told me someone from a higher department will give me a call tomorrow or Thursday. Do you guys have similar problem to update the map? Is there any successful story? If so, How to you resolve it? if there is any update, I will keep you guys update.

Re: UConnect Map update problem

If you didn't notice that there is a thread talking about the map updates along with those that have successfully installed it on their units. If the code changed everytime you started your car then everyone would be having that issue. Either the person from HERE doesn't know what they are talking about or there might be something wrong with your radio.

2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update
Actually the OP is correct. The code does change everytime you restart the Jeep or restart the radio. My suggestion is that he check the dates on his original maps. If his maps are current the radio will automatically reject the code. My experience is that the HERE people are not the sharpest pencils in the box. I had to experiment on my own to get my map update to install completely. It didn't help any that HERE actually sent me the wrong update to begin with even though they had my VIN and request code. I did finally get the replacement update to install completely after tossing HERE'S directions which were written for a key ignition while my Jeep has push button start.

The request code does change each time you start the engine that is normal. But the activation code they provide you based on that request code should remain valid. Call back and ask to speak to a supervisor those HERE people are kind of dim bulbs not surprising they may have done it wrong. The first time i talked with them they gave me an activation code to activate an RA3 navigation system instead of activate a map update on my RA4, it took a supervisor getting involved to make the rude rep understand and fix the issue. Call back and go immediately to a supervisor.

It is funny even the new update map dated back in fourth quarter of 2013. Let see if I will get a call from them today.

Were you giving them the Request Code from Settings-->System Information or the Requester Code that comes up when you insert the map USB?

Both. I talked to the representative on phone and tried both. What actually happened was they sent me the wrong map and they never send me a replacement.

oh, fun. I've been working with UConnect's customer service because my radio, which I just had to have replaced, won't display a Request Code in the System Information. I just suggested to the UConnect rep (who's been interfacing with HERE) that we try using the Requester Code. We'll see if we have any luck...

I was so frustrated and they were not able to tell me when the replacement map to be sent, I just told her to refund me.

yeah, I saw you had to return. I doubt I could get a refund. I used my maps for a month or so in my original radio; I just can't get them to install on the replacement radio. When I get too frustrated, I think my only option will be just to give up

jcil4ever did you ever get this resolved? The request code information in my setup screen is blank, and without that I am unable to even order the update. I've been harassing my dealer for 3 months and they have no solution for this, so I am looking for ideas.
