Show notifications in the Bluetooth setting will allow for the car to read the messages like stated above. You will not be able to reply though.

I am a big Apple fan (have multiple Apple devices) and I think it's absurd that the iPhone doesn't support this feature.

As instructed above I also modified my iPhone 5s Bluetooth settings but the messages tab on uconnect is still greyed out. I'm not that concerned but would still prefer full functionality if possible.

It will be grayed out until you actually receive a message while in the car with bluetooth on.

I had the same issue with my iPhone5s and iOS 7.1.2. Jeep says this OS is not supported for messaging. Being the IT Geek that I am I decided to prove them wrong. My message light would come on but I could not receive texts. I already knew that the reply feature would not work. I turned on the notify option in the paired Bluetooth options on my phone. Still no joy. I started playing around with the notification center section, under settings, on the phone. I had turned off all text notifications. In otherwords, messaging was not in the list under "Include" in the notification center. When I did this it started working. I would recommend repairing the phone if this remedy does not work the first time. I hope this works out for you.

So does that work fine when hooked up to uconnect via Bluetooth? I wasn't sure if Siri would conflict in some way with the uconnect voice recognition setup.
Yes, works fine. Uconnect doesn't listen unless you push a button on the steering wheel, Siri doesn't listen unless you push a button in the iPhone or use "Hey Siri" so both systems are never listening at the same time - unless you really want them to! :)

So let me get this straight :confused::confused:,, If your Ipone 5 or higher (with the new IOS 8 update) is plugged into your Jeep , alls you need to do is say "Hey Seri " ?? or push the U connect button ?? Mide you I have a 2012 W2k

I played around with the 'hey Siri' feature today and it worked really well. Only problem is, with the sound system running, it couldn't hear me. I had to turn the volume right down before it picked me up. As indicated though, when it heard me, it was really accurate.

Hi All! I have a 2014 Overland and I have an iPhone 5 and ever since I updated to IOS 8 when I plug my phone into the USB/flash cable it doesn't see my music. I have done reset after reset to my phone per Apple, been to the dealership & spoken to Uconnect. Uconnect finally told me that there is a compatibility issue with IOS 8 and that they have no time line on doing any update to make it compatible. I've been doing A LOT of research online and there are a number of people having this and other issues since the update. With that being said, though I love my iPhone I would really like the texting feature and all that the system has to offer, so I'm thinking that I'm going to get a new phone and wanted to see what you all would recommend. I've been on the Uconnectphone.com site that tells you which phones have what capabilities; however it's so out dated and only lists older phones. Does anyone have any suggestions? And is anyone experiencing the USB music problem with their phone? I would greatly appreciate ANY assistance. Thanks so much!!
