Tested Concerns :
Halo light at USB plug in
A/C on vehicle remote start
Multiple Playback devices while using Nav and other features
On the Halo light in the connection compartment, this seems to function in conjuction with the auto light sensor and the brightness. It does not appear to work during the day unless the headlights are turned on. In Auto in a Darker environment it does come on but is very hard to see if your dash lights are turned down.
There have been complaints that the A/C was blowing then shuts off as soon as you touch the door handle when you have started the vehicle with the Fob. Here is what is happening and you can test this by sitting in the car and using the remote start in hand out the window (Car Must not see the fob inside)
-When the vehicle remote start is engaged, the vehicle assesses the OUTDOOR temperature and either applies Max heat to the Defrost or Max A/C through the vents.
-The Second you touch the handle the System recalls your exact last setting including temperature and fan speed. If you had set your system to manual, it will engage the last manual setting that was in place.
-As far as I see this explains the wide ranging results each owner sees, we all set our system and it recalls that on driver entry, plus the outside climate is different**
-Please note that even though the inside of my test vehicle was over 80 degrees as it was in the sun it was still cool outside, so I got heat... Indoors it decided on A/C so my theory is that the Remote Start HVAC setting is programmed to use the air intake sensor which likely makes the most sense.
-If you do sit in the vehicle and try this, during the remote start if you leave the UConnect on the HVAC Screen you will see these items happening. The UConnect screen is very dim on Remote Start so not viewable from outside the vehicle really.
-IMHO this is a very intuitive setup, if it is cold outside, it trys to warm the vehicle if it is hot outside it cools the vehicle (key here is it recalls Your setting on entry so you don't have hot or cold blowing in your face).... I mean if it is cool outside but your car is warm inside why would you want the A/C to come on... you want it to still be warm because you are cold from being outside !!
Guiness... in your fridge... at home.... BRILLANT!
On the audio playback.... Sadly no album art yet on Bluetooth playback but the Album art works well on USB.
-I had the 2 phones connected via Bluetooth and was able to switch back and forth between which phone I wanted to use phone audio listening and which one for calling (via the bluetooth button lower left on the media screen)
-The iphone 5 did have some skipping and funny playback, I put it closer to the radio (under) and it seemed to clear up
-I was also using the iPad as an audio source and also flipping back and forth with it and jumping between the other 2 Bluetooth audio sources randomly
-** The USB port is HIGH POWER ** this is important, it is capable of charging an iPad which means it EXCEEDS the 500ma limit on a standard USB bus. ** There may be a problem with this, if a USB connector is loose or jiggled there can be a fairly large swing on the draw for the Powered USB port. This port can likely charge a cell phone faster than a normal USB port but may also be more sensitive. Major voltage draw changes on the USB buss MAY be causing problems but this is just a Theory. More a note to make sure you are using a good USB cable and not one all chewed up because this port has effectively double the output power of standard USB.
I did not see any crashes or freezing in the system. On the initial start up there was a slight lag but this is expected as background services start up. My system IS NOT ACTIVATED so I may not be seeing some of the issues that the activated users have seen. I set multiple destinations via voice and canceled via voice and was unable to see any issues.
I would like to continue this discussion but some of the Freeze and or Reboot may be due to a grounding issue (not sure why Chrysler seems to get a lot of these and that is why I guessed this). Those of you with "Activated" systems are likely experiencing other issues depending on the Apps. I would suggest that this will be corrected in the near future... Not sure how many People remember IOS 3 and App problems and or original iphone issues like no copy and paste but I think the "activated" connect likely has a little way to go. I cannot activate the test vehicle so I can't be of much help here folks.
Have a great Holiday Weekend!
