Just shouting out there if anybody tried to install an OEM 2014 JGC Summit Rear VES in one that was not equipped
I have an aftermarket one installed but it BLOWS...
Wife and KIDS scream out back cause the DVD players are working when they want and i sought the OEM system will work a lot better and won't be that bulky as the aftermarket ones mounted on the head rests and taking the space already filled with twins and car seats on the back
Thx in advance
PS also if anybody know that Summit has the plugs under the center console to be a plug'n'play install :)
Thx guys

I have a 14 Limited without the entertainment system, and I was curious about doing the same retrofit. I did a whole bunch of research and found out that it really isn't worth it. FCA doesn't make a simple retrofit available, you would have to buy a lot of parts. You have to replace the center console to get the DVD player in, and you would have to replace the seats (yes, replace both front seats) to get the original monitors in. The reason is the monitors are integral to the headrests, and there are plugs in the side of the seats for aux inputs, and all the wiring is internal to the seat.

So needless to say, not a cheap date. You'd be into the $2k range in parts alone, not including labor.

you are forgetting the value of the parts you replace?

Heated LTD leather seats front and back are a nice upgrade to any laredo owner who did not get theirs with the cold weather package from the factory..value $500 to $1000 depending on age and condition

not really alot of parts and best sourced from FCA dismantlers vs trying to piece one together from the parts bin. eBay is probably the best source as you get detailed pics vs near nothing from the internet salvage yards

1) oem seats w/ monitors
2) center console with blu-ray player
3) time to install - ez

so when all said and done your looking at a $1995 option that you can only get on a Ltd if you opt for the $4000 Lux II package (which by the way is one of the best packages bar none). If parts are lets say $1500 and you sell your old seats for $600 your out $900 for an $2000 OEM option.

Some might say well just get ipads and mounting brackets and yes thats a nice $500 option but for $400 more you get summit seats vs ltd seats with HDMI hook ups ect - big difference. if you dont have the Lux II option on the Ltd and have summit seats to swap you also now get vented seats due to the wiring harness used on the Ltd model being wired for those. its a viable option for those not wanting to spend $6K at time of purchase for the factory install imho

i got a set of seats fromt and back plus remote and headphones plus a blu-ray OEM in my garage for like $1,150 just istting but i don't want to open a pandoras box when trying to make it work
my question is what wiring harness is going to center console from head unit or is everything getting connected to the seats itself under ?????
and do u know the trim part number for center console bazel ?
i heard a lot of guys are taking out the cd player just to get the space inside the console
thx in advance ?

the biggest piece of the puzzle are the wiring harness i.e. the body, ip and center console. your summit has the right body harness but might not have the ip. I have all the stuff as well. just picked up a my17 ltd and will be swapping out seats, cd player ect in a couple of weeks. ill post up a couple pics of things that might not be seen / included on the tech authority web site. one of the big ones is the actually harness from the blue ray player to the seats, there isnt a part # for that thing. you need to get that from a dismantler via a whole center console purchase that has a blu ray player in it. give me a couple weeks and ill see if i can be of some help

question is whats going to happen to the original summit seats that dont have the monitors in the seat back?
