Trying to avoid having to put it anywhere else...

Thanks!
If you found a very very small amp then maybe.. But the sub box takes up most of the room, especially if you buy a stealthbox. Even if you went with the same factory enclosure and put a better 8inch in room is almost non-exisent over there. You'd have better luck on the opposite side, I pulled that panel and I think you could fit a small amp in the driver side rear quarter panel, I'd just be afraid of not being able to see it and worry about heat issues... Even though the factory amp is buried under the rear left floor/quarter panel its designed to be there and has air space..

Talking Re: Stealthbox Installed thus far

Im doing the same install right now. I have the factory sub out and have run all wires but the input. I think im going to put my amp under the back seats? I have a jl 250/1 and it is not huge but looks to be big enough that it wont fit in with the spare. My jl box will be in Wednesday. hope to have it done that night. Everything was pretty simple so far should only take a hour or so to mount and put jeep back togeather. I will go take some pictures of the jeep apart so people can see. Will post them up soon. I hope factory signal is not cut off at a certain frequency, i want the jl to play as low as will go. $525 at my local shop.

Re: Stealthbox Installed thus far

Bezlar, note I mounted a very thin Alpine PDX5 amp under the center rear seat and it is fine until you fold the seatbacks down which pushes the seat bottoms forward and down a bit hitting the amp. I haven't tried yet, but it may fit under the passegner side properly as there is more room on a slanted surface there.

Photos here: Do Not Try This at Home

As Jorde suggests, another member mounted larger double amps located on the two non-cubby sides of the spare stowage compartment, and the space behind the stock amp looks like there's enough room and airspace for heat dissapation per your photos.

I need to pick up an amp, my kicker from my last setup is to big and to powerful. Just dont know if I should spend the money now and get a JL 5 channel for future front doors, or just buy a small rockford p400.1 mono amp.

High level from the sub speaker connection. Thanks for the note about the module!

Re: Stealthbox Installed thus far

Some new photos of where I mounted the AudioControl LC6I that I got today. Not done hooking it up fully, only have the front channel thus far tapped in. Will be hidden behind the quarter panel. What I noticed however is this supposedly great, GTO (signal sensing), isn't the greatest on anyone's equipment yet. When the radio is off it still turns on. I was hoping the technology would work, I dont know where to get a 12v remote tap from when the radio goes on, I was running on the signal sensing working and turning on the audio control and the remote out from the audio control going to the JL amp.

Re: Updated New Pictures! Stealthbox/Audio Control Installed thus far

I believe that the amp will stay on until the car is off and the entry exit lights power off, at least that is what my jl amp is doing. My install is done, the stealthbox deff has a lot more punch than the factory box that had none. Might be a tad to strong using the high level inputs from the old sub and amp?

Re: Updated New Pictures! Stealthbox/Audio Control Installed thus far

Did you utilize both sub channels from the factory or did you just tap one of them at the stock plug? The stock is a dual voice sub, I suppose it doesn't matter since the jl sub is single voice coil. I should get my hd900/5 beginning of next week.

Re: Updated New Pictures! Stealthbox/Audio Control Installed thus far

Tapped into both speaker lines going to factory sub. Used one for right rca and one for left rca. Thought about unpluging one from amp to see if that helped? I bought the jl speaker to rca adapters cause the amp does not have speaker inputs only rca.

I posted a similar question, but do you think if I simply replace the factory speaker with a different one, I can still fit an amp in that same compartment? The amps I'm looking at are either 11L x 7-3/4"W x 2-1/8"H OR a smaller6-7/8"W x 2-1/16"H x 7-1/8"

Thanks!
