Upgrade speakers

Is it worth it to upgrade the front tweeters and door woofers in a 2012 Overland? I believe it's the Alpine system. Can someone point me in the right direction? I know changing the head unit and amps will make a huge difference but will upgrading the speakers only make a noticeable difference?

Yes Definitely!! While your at it do the front center channel dash speaker.
I upgraded the OEM front Alpine component speakers with Focal ISS 690 components with a noticeable improvement in sound with the OEM headunit and OEM Alpine amp.

Re: Upgrade speakers

Yes the Focal ISS 690 components will bolt right into the OEM speaker locations.

The tweeters fit in the OEM location but they are tight and you may have to "open up" the tweeter mounting spots with some sandpaper or very slight trimming with an razor knife. I used a 1 1/2" sanding drum mounted into a low speed cordless drill to open up the tweeter holes. Others have used a dremel rotary tool to open up the mounting holes.
Do this very slow and carefully, you don't need to remove much material at all!

If you have OEM alpine components already just use the existing speaker wires as they already send the proper frequencies to the Focal components.

Re: Upgrade speakers

OK great read. Thanks... When you get the Focal ISS 690's it looks like the woofers are a direct plug in. Do you have to cut the wires for the tweeters or does the Focals come with the correct harness? Do you use the OEM crossover and how do you determine the correct polarity for the tweeters? Does Focal make a center channel speaker? I do already have a Polk in the center but would like to have all the same speakers brand in the front.

Re: Upgrade speakers

I have decided my OEM speakers are good enough. I hate bright tweeters anyways...
