Upgrading 6 speaker stock system

Hey guys,

I was hoping someone could help me "design" a speaker system to upgrade the sound in my MY14 Altitude Grand Cherokee. I have the stock 6 speaker system, and I want to keep the stock head unit.

I was looking at and heard JL Audio speakers, and I was looking through their catalog for products to upgrade my sound experience. This is the list I've come to:

JL Audio C2-650 system (For the front doors; 6.5s for the components in the doors and the tweeters for, well, the tweeters in the doors)
JL Audio C2-690 pair (6x9s for the rear doors)
JL Audio Stealthbox (My Grand Cherokee doesn't have a subwoofer, so I was going to get a Stealthbox for the trunk to get some bass but not to take up any extra trunk space)
JL Audio XD700/5v2 amplifier (Is this enough power for the speakers and the subwoofer? Is it going to fit in the compartment under the driver's seat, or should I just let my installer figure out a good hidden place for it?)
JL Audio CleanSweep CL441dsp (for cleaning up the signal and flattening the equalizer from the head unit to the amp/speakers/what have you)

Is there anything I'm missing, or better products than what I've picked in the same price range? I really want to get a better sound in my cabin but want to avoid taking up any more space/making it look like anything other than OEM.

Thank you in advance! I really appreciate any insight or thoughts.

Re: Upgrading 6 speaker stock system

Greetings,

If you have the 8.4 HU, at the present time, it can not be replaced anyway. Since you have heard the speakers, for the price point, they are nice sounding. The cleansweep is an excellent unit and you are aware of it will leave you with just aa flat signal. You do have other choices from AudioControl's newer processes that will give you some eq and time delay. The Audison Bitten D is another unit look at with a price point.

The rest of the system looks pretty good and fits into your price range. The amp will give you enough power to push the sub. If you want to get the sub to an ideal level then go for the XD 1000/5v2. This way you are not straining to push.

Best for now.

JL makes decent products. In my opinion there are better, cheaper options such as CDT (I will always recommend them to everyone) or Precision Power. The cleansweep unit is great. AudioControl also makes processors that will also include a line converter.

The JL Audio XD700 is a great amp and is plenty for your any normal setup.

Re: Upgrading 6 speaker stock system

If you have the factory 6 speaker system without the factory amp, you dont need the clean sweep.

also you have your speakers backwards. the FRONT at 6x9 and the Rear a 6.5 and honestly your installer is gonna give you some bad news if you try to put a component set in the rear. Unless you wantt o surface mount your tweeters, which might look "gauddy"

again, if you dont have the factory amplified system (which you shouldnt, if you dont have the factory subwoofer).. Just...
Run the 4 ch (front and rear) output into a good LOC. (memphis 16-6ix, Kicker sum8, audiocontorl LCi?.. mainly to get a 3rd output with a "bass knob" for sub contol.
Run the output from the LOC to your amp.
Im not sure on JL model numbes, but you can fit the LOC and possibly the amp under the drivers seat floor board. if not, you should be able to fit any digital amp under the rear drivers seat. I personally have a Sum8 in the floor and a PDX-v9 under the back seat, with FULL functionality of folding the back seat.
Depending on how much bass your looking for, you may or may not need the subwoofer. Once you have the new front 6x9 installed, and amped, you might have enough.
