I'd like to get people's thoughts about upgrading the Alpine Audio System - i'd like to leave the head unit while replacing the speakers and the amplifier.
I'd like to see if anybody has upgraded their systems in their WK2 and what speakers / amp they used?
I'd also like to get people's thoughts whether the amp can be mounted behind any interior panels (possibly in the place of the current amp) - I know D Class Amps are smaller but I'm not sure if they are suitable.
I use my trunk and I have kids, so the amp is going to get damaged if mounted to the back of the seat or underneath the seat.
Any thoughts? I love the Grand Cherokee but I'd like to get a Laredo or Limited which is in my budget.
I currently own a 2011 JGC Laredo X that is trail rated with the select-terrian and QL suspension. I could not be more happier than owning this Jeep. It was worth for me to get out of lease with Nissan Pathfinder.
With regards to your purchase, I would make sure that all of the other requirements fit your needs first and not worry so much about the sound system. The new 8.4 unconnect head unit with navi looks very interesting. You can upgrade the sound system like many of us have done or in the stages of planning. Check out the WK2 audio thread, their is so many wonderful ideas on it of those who modified their systems.

OEM integration for the amps and speakers has many possibilities. in the audio thread for the WK2, anybody could help you with questions.
As for me, this spring or early summer, I plan to change out components of the Alpine system. New hd unit, amps, speakers and a piggyback DSP unit.
Good luck with your purchase.
Best for now.
