If you have contact with the door trim (on the rubber surround) that will significantly affect your midrange performance. Also remember there is an approx 3mm (1/8") rib behind the trim where the speaker is.... Hopefully it is OK, just giving you a heads up!

Hi, I think its not touching the door trim. I have cranked the vol up and it sounds fine. Otherwise it would sound totally bad.

My speakers have yet to break-in, and they sound good already. I thibnk i will pass on replacing rear doors.

I think changing the rear pillar small speakers is possible. Only if its as easy as the front dash speaker, if not, then forgetaboutit.

D pillars aren't as easy as dash and less impact. See adjacent thread re D Pillar speakers.

The rear doors would be next best ease of replacement vs impact, although not a great impact listening from the front. The next best impact (after front comps) would be from an amp then sub/sub box.

Mine is just lacking that sub bass now, the stock 8" is basically non existent. I was considering just replacing it with a HAT Imagine 8" and beefed up box but it probably won't achieve anything without a proper amp...

I see, But my factory sub is very very bass heavy, I am keeping my bass neutral in EQ. So, you are saying that , rear door speakers are as easy as front doors??? If thats the case then Ummmmm... alright....i'l see. I will give some time to the front focals to break-in ,

Rear doors are easier than front but much less impact. I recommend an adapter though.
I think you will find it is your mid bass that is very heavy. It is the sub bass that is lacking. The mid bass in my car can be tightened up with some Dynamat and an amp. My other car has Focal K2P's and a IDQ10 sub running off a Alpine PDX 4.150 amp. This really shows up what is still missing in my Jeep set up at the moment...

Re: Upgrading just the base speakers?

Not to sidetrack from what everyone else is doing and explained so far, but has anyone just upgraded the amp and added a LOC to improve audio quality?

Being stuck with the 2014 head unit for now, I'm trying to solve my audio distortion problem, that I've narrowed down to the source of it with my factory amp. It seems to hit a wall with loudness settings and from there deteriorates, especially with bass heavy songs (mid range bass especially throws it off for some reason).

So I spoke with a local audio place that thinks replacing the stock amp with a 4 or 5 channel aftermarket amp and using an LOC, would bring the speakers to life a bit. I agree with the technician in that I don't think the new stock speakers sound all that bad, it's just the power being sent to them that is lacking and unsupported.

I'd greatly appreciate a second or even third opinion.

Deff the stock amp is hurting your audio expirience. id upgrade it to something with more kick. But at the same time if your gonna go that route, be sure to have the speakers first...

I'm definitely looking into new speakers at some point, but I'm really not that unhappy with the stock ones.
At times, the music sounds great. It's just the amp that kills it.

I think the stock ones may be more than substantial enough for me for a while
if the amp will make that big of a difference on it's own.

Greetings,

Big question, do you have Alpine or HK system? This makes a huge decision in your upgrade path. If you have not followed this recent thread, then their is some interesting reading on the 2 pages similar to your situation:

Full Audio System NO Line Out Converter

See some of my responses, they might answer some of your questions

Hope this help and best for now.
