I thought i read the 6x9s aren't the way to go for some reason the 6.5s were the answer

Why do the docks seem to be the best speakers on this forum with no real mention of any other brands? I know you want the sensitivity of 94 decibels but there have to be more out there right?

Yeah i wonder the same thing. Even tho Mopar has kicker upgrade 6x9's but no one uses them..? Focals and Hybrid are famous on here. maybe because good reviews here since some ppl have installed it. Thats why I wouldnt want to go with something new and find out it dont sound good. I am searching for used 6x9 midrange focals since i cant afford new ones.

I meant focals, there are some speakers that have too much of a horn sound in their home theatre systems(i think kicker) so I don't trust that so ill try to find a place that sells these focals and some other brands so I can compare them.

You can find a set of Focal Intergration Series (middle of the line up) components for under 200 on Amazon. Trying to mix in door speakers with tweeters will be hard. Should have bought a set if components.

Hey subbie that's some good info what does focal have for the 2 rear doors since the fronts and tweeters are covered in that component kit?

What model and size Focal components have others used in their 2014 Overland? This stock system makes me cringe.

These are popular 6x9 replacements:

Imagine I69-2 Speaker Set - 12v Electronics

Focal Integration ISS 690 6" x 9" component speaker system at Crutchfield.com

Image Dynamics XS-69 (XS 69) 6" x 9" 2-Way Component Speaker System

If you go with a 6.5" midrange you just need an adapter and to watch the front clearance (use a recessed rubber surround speaker in this size to be safe).

Read up about each one, look at reviews, audition them if you can, and go from there!

I will keep hunting for Focal 6x9 speakers if i find them for good price.

Thanks again, you are so helpful.
How did you go with your door panel removal? Survive the ordeal?

Oh yeah looking at your pic u posted, and guidance, everything went smooth. only thing which gave me hard time was upper door trim, took me some time to install it back the first door, but 2nd door went smooth. and all the rivets survived. Thank you.

I see there are cheap adapters from 6x9 to 6.5. If i choose to go with 6.5 focal speakers and use the adapter, the install looks easy, but how about the sound, what diff i'l have sound wise? like instead of 6x9 , what i'l compromise OR gain by using adapter and 6.5 focals?

That is what I am running. But I also went all out with a new amp, new headunit and JL audio stealthbox. All new speaker wire. I love these speakers though. Clear, crisp and amazing. And here was my build....
