I'll report back on Friday. I have installed dozens of systems in the past, but This is the first install that I'm not doing myself due to an injury. I'm hoping to get some install pics if I can swing by the shop while they have it apart.

They are doing a new head unit, front and rear speakers, Stealthbox and an amp. More details here: 2012 WK2 Stereo Overhaul

Re: upgrading speakers Is it a plug&play issue ?

Get well soon!!!
Went today to two different audio shops,
Both suggested as a must, to add some kind of PAC attenuator that will enable RCA jacks from my 430N head unit to an external amp.
One advised to put an external 5ch amp while the second suggested to keep and use the internal stock amps my GC has and not to go with a new ext. amp. , otherwise it will be a complicated installation.

So few questions:
  1. How many stock amps my grand cherokee has
  2. What are their specification
  3. Where are they located anyway?
Second, is there any truth in their following sayings:
  1. The need for the RCA attenuator
  2. The prefernce to keep my stock amps and not to go with an external one

Re: upgrading speakers Is it a plug&play issue ?

Thanks. I'm well on the road to recovery.

I don't know that much about the stock Jeep stereo. There are a few different setups (basic, Alpine, Harmon Kardon and 130/430/730). I just had the most basic 130, since I knew I wouldn't be happy with any stock system, and knew I'd end up gutting it.

I'm pretty sure with your setup, the is just one amp, and it's probably near one of the rear wheel wells. Audio is a slippery slope. It's easy to spend a lot, and it all depends on your budget and how much you really need.

But every upgrade will be significantly better than stock, especially the amp and a quality sub. Then front speakers, then rears, and lastly the head unit (over what you currently have).
