USB and Bluetooth Music Streaming problem - 2.184/2.140/2.600

Hi All,

I have a 2013 GC with an Australian RHP radio with navigation. Firmware v2.6 from SOX.

I recently noticed that I could no longer stream music from my iPhone 4s that had been upgraded to 8.1. I then tried to connect it via USB to play music which also didn't work. Thinking this was an iPhone issue, I read all the suggestions to reset settings etc and performed these to no effect.

I then tested another phone - Nokia Windows Phone 8.x - which also didnt work via bluetooth streaming. It too displayed the error - failed to read (same as iPhone). I then checked connecting both phones via USB - this didnt work. I checked a USB stick (formated FAT32) - this didnt work. All devices could get power from USB, both from the head unit and from the glove box.

Since updating to v2.6 ages ago, i couldnt get Gracenotes to work (v5.412 also from SOX - PS thanks for all your updates SOX), but this didnt bother me. It showns Gracenote N/A. So then I thought maybe the v2.6 hadnt installed correctly, or has caused this bug. I downgraded to v2.184, but still had the same problem - no USB and Bluetooth music playback.

I read about Engineering mode, and reset to Factory Defaults. This made things worse - I couldnt connect to either phone via bluetooth. I Factory reset again, and Bluetooth for phone calls was now working again, but no music support. Unfortunately this looks like it wiped the music on the hard disk (and i cant add any back in via USB), but luckily has not affected the navigation.

I downloaded and installed the v2.140 (from SOX - legend), but this hasn't fixed anything. Bluetooth phone calls work, USB power works, but USB and Bluetooth music playing dont work with iPhone, Windows Phone and USB stick.

Any suggestions as to what i should try next to fix this issue will be greatly appreciated.

PS: just in case it wasnt clear - bluetooth music streaming to iPhone has worked in the past, and USB playback has worked but I'm not sure which radio fw version this was using.

Thanks in advance,

Kostas

Reinstalled 2.140 since SOX says this is the latest. Had to factory reset a couple of times to get Bluetooth pairing to work. In the end still no good. USB will charge but wont read any devices and music streaming via bluetooth doesn't work.

Took it in to the dealer today, and after a couple of hours they gave up too. It was odd that half the functions work and the others don't. They said they need to order a replacement Head Unit and swap it out. At least I wont be wasting any more time trying to figure out what's wrong.

Re: USB and Bluetooth Music Streaming problem - 2.184/2.140/2.600

FYI:

I had the head unit replaced today with a new one that is supposed to have all the latest and greatest firmware versions.

Application: 2.501 (I hadn't heard of this version before. Anyone know where it fits in the scheme of things. It looks buggy thoough - I can't change the time/clock.)

Gracenote: 3267 (This is old. I will update using SOX disks after i'm sure everything else is working ok)

Database: HPT1-A 1112 4.2.1 (I'm most disappointed with this. Earlier this year Jeep did a court mandated map updated which took this up to version HTP3-A 1329 4.5.0. I have to now try and book another appointment to get this updated again. They dont give us the disks.

PS: There is a recall on this Jeep to get some cabling in the sun-visor replaced (which they did today). Apparently the cable that powers the light for the personal mirror can break which I imagine can cause the risk of electric shock.

I am having this same issue in my 2011 Overland Summit, with my previously owned iPhone 5,5S and not my current iPhone 6. I actually work at a Jeep Dealership and I have been having them look into when I get the free time. Mine has however lost my navigation database. So far they pretty sure the internal harddrive is corrupt, which is going to call for a new radio unit.

will repost this here as i still have no idea where it fits in...maybe i have the same issues.

Ok im not too tech savy here, but to copy songs from a usb device to the hard drive does this mean straight from a usb stick or does it need to be an ipod type product. Ive tried and tried with just a usb stick to no avail got the copy from a cd all sorted. 2012 overland. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
