USB Quit Working

It was working fine and then out of the blue it stopped reading the stick. I tried it in my wife's car and a computer and no issues.

I have no idea what else to try or look at. The light on the drive flashes once when I plug it in. Typically it flashes all the time.

Looks like I'm headed to the dealer again.

Re: USB Quit Working

You might be able to do a radio reset. I think holding the driver side up and down temperature buttons for a few seconds will do that.

Thanks Bill, I'm assuming that you mean simultaneously ?

I'll give it a try.

Thanks

Re: USB Quit Working

Have you tried a different USB flash drive or...re-formatting this one?

Every couple of months songs get duplicated on mine. Not physically duplicated on the SD card (when I check it on a computer) but...somehow certain folders and their contents get indexed twice by UCONNECT, in the absence of any work done by me (e.g. removal/re-insertion; adding songs etc.). When songs don't get duplicated, every couple of months the SD/USB card/stick stops working. I just resorted to changing 3 times by now the type of card and/or reformatting. Now I have the duplication issue again on the SD card so I will basically copy their contents on a folder on PC, reformat the SD card, then move them back on the card.

Also make sure that you only have MP3 files on the card. And nothing else; no other format (WMA; WAV) either.

Re: USB Quit Working

I've had all of my music on SD and USB in my Jeep for almost two years now in WMA format. Never had a problem. Early on I had a few issues with duplicate songs on the radio's index, but somewhere on the forum there is a thread that explains the folder structure necessary to avoid this. I think if you search SD cards you can find this thread.

I tried formatting the card and bingo it works again. Any songs I have on the drive are pulled straight from my itunes library. All of them are MPEG4. Not sure if that's good or bad.

But thanks Jacko for the great tip. And all the rest of the tips as well.

Cheers
