First of all, thanks for your efforts to recruit a GB and follow up with the VG guys. They must either have some big fixed costs or maybe just don't have any leverage to get their suppliers (paint guys) to play along. Or, maybe their idea of a discount isn't the same as ours. I would think that a 50-unit order would have gotten a little bit more attention also.
That said, I'd still be interested in saving ~$10 bucks; I mean, why not. I don't have any tried and true ideas for managing the ordering and finances on the JG members' end though.
I think that if 50 customers are willing to come to them en masse, VG should step up a bit, if not on the price, then on the coordination of the buy. Idea: They give us a code and a timeframe...say 4-5 days. If we hit the target number of orders (as measured by how many people provide the code upon ordering), we get the agreed-upon discount. The downside for us is the extra few days of waiting. The downside for them is that they have to manage these orders and keep us in a group until the ordering threshold is met. I would hope that any JG'ers who said they were "in" would pony up when the time came.
This solution keeps the ordering and tracking of the incoming $$ where it belongs-- with the vendor. Open to other ideas, including looking at other vendors (but we already know that the VG product is solid and looks good).
