Voice Recognition Training

I have a 2014 Summit with the 8.4AN Harman/Kardon sound system. Love the system. However, the voice recognition seems to have gotten worse about recognizing my commands. Is there a training mode on the system where you can train it on how to recognize your voice? My previous car (Infiniti G37) had this feature and it helped a ton.

Thanks!

Re: Voice Recognition Training

No and the system is pretty lame. At times it will dial a number of a person who's name does not even vaguely sound like the name I asked for. Toss in all the time you waste because you cannot speak during the instructions and it is a good idea that just does not work in my opinion.

Re: Voice Recognition Training

I ended up doing a factory reset on my 8.4AN and I then plugged my iPod back and let it re-update the music catalog.

Once I did that, the VR system actually recognizes my commands when asking it to play a song or an artist.

Just the opposite here. My wife's '14 understands my voice most of the time but not my wife. My '11 is about 50% with trying to voice dial by name but 100% if I dial by saying the number. I am disappointed they did not put in a voice training system.

Re: Voice Recognition Training

I have had my '14 Overland for almost 2 years and the voice recognition is much worse now then when I bought it. I have the latest system updates and dealer "patches". I give up - it's useless - just responds with "enter street address". I wait until I am stopped to use the keyboard or use my portable Garmin when driving.

Voice Recognition Training

I'd recommend doing a factory reset. This fixed the problem I was having with the voice recognition. If you get a new background or strange buttons, a couple of full power cycles of the system will fix this.
