Well that does explain why it is abysmally slow. It, perhaps, also explains why it understands my English accent but isn't so good with my wife's Californian. Probably also why it repeats back "Sweet Tomatoes" in the English pronunciation and then reads out the eight identical restaurant names at varying distances in the American pronunciation.

I won't be paying $15/mo for this when my contract runs out.

The voice recognition repeats things back to me in English pronunciation and then the addresses are read out in American. The recognition is done elsewhere, not in the car. Part of the reason it's so bloody slow.

I can talk at Android or Siri until I am blue in the face and they will never come up with the right answer.

So which part of Scotland, if you are talking Doric to them it is no bloody wonder. But they should be able to handle Edinburgh or the Highlands. I doubt anything can deal with Northumbrian, Geordie or Yorkshire either.

Just put on an outrageous American accent and maybe it will work?

Back in 1982 Royal Aircraft Establishment (Bedford) sent their BAC 1-11 (XX105) to Paris Air Show to demo systems including voice activated radio controls. Even the French could use them. We don't seem to have come all that far in the last 32 years.
