Website or Phone Number for JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE

I could not find an email address or phone number for Jeep Customer Service. Does anyone have these contacts?

I want to add my voice about Jeep's abandonment of customer needs for reasonably up-to-date navigation maps. At least they could give us a firm date. I have been waiting for almost 2 years - my map is more than 2 years old.

Thanks, Tom

Greetings,

Here is the link for HERE (navteq);

http://allthingsnav.navigation.com/page/contact-us

I believe the last person who dealt with them did not get anywhere.

For Jeep:

Jeep - Contact Us

If you can get something out of them, consider it a miracle.

Best for now.

Thanks for the info

I sent an email to Chrysler and they sent me a phone number. I will try that too.

Let us know if you hear anything. I contacted the map people a few times and first thdy said august 2014 then it was october 2014 then, "sometime soon". I honestly dont think the people on the phone have any clue at all and just throw out baseless guess to get you off the phone or to stop emailing them. When these maps hit 3 years old ill probably try contacting them again

Re: Website or Phone Number for JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE

My issue is the old - 2 1/2 year old navigation maps.

I sent an email to Chrysler Customer Support who forwarded it to Jeep Customer Support. Jeep replied that there was a system update 14.25.05 available (I loaded it months ago) and that there was a recall on the Occupant Restraint (for which dealers don't have any parts). They never mentioned the map.

I just replied to them, so I haven't heard back.

I called Jeep Customer Assistance (877-426-5337). My contact looked for a while to find the correct department. She transferred me to NAVTEQ SUPPORT. Phone number had been disconnected. She transferred me to Mopar Tech Authority but all they handled was manuals, so that lady transferred me back to Customer Assistance. Another very nice lady tried repeatedly to find information on the map, even calling uConnect support. She was told that it's completely normal to wait over 2 years for a map update. She did have a record of my previous emails and calls and logged another call. I asked her to pass on to upper management that JEEP needs to represent the customer. JEEP needs to use its influence to get map updates out much faster than 2 years. JEEP needs to inform customers when the next update will be released. JEEP should provide the update to customers, even if the charge for them. I told her that she and her associates should know when the next map update will be released and they should be able to answer customers immediately. As a customer, I should not have to beg Navteq / HERE for information. I mentioned that Garmin posts new map updates and makes them available to customers and JEEP should do the same.

Frustrated - Tom

Re: Website or Phone Number for JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE

Greetings,

Correct me if I am wrong TILAPOINTE.

I believe that you received your JGC around February of 2013 which would mean that you might have had a 2011 or in fact a 2012 map database. According to Jeep's answer, 2 years is not uncommon for an update, then you should have had an update already.

At this stage the only way I see Jeep is going to do something is for everybody here at jeepgarage.org to send in a email to help our fellow member out and of course help other as well. For a company that claims it works with their client base, it sure seams the opposite at times.

What do you think?

Best for now.

I think you are right the more emails and phone calls jeep and Navteq get the better. In dash systems do have longer map update cycles then something like portable garmins which you can expect quarterly. That said a year or year and half is what i have had on other cars. We are going on 3 years with these ones which is a bit much.
Navteq may be the vendor but its up to jeep to police their vendors. Time is money and i just dont think they really care to push the issue. With all the QC issues jeep has this is probably not someghing jeep will ever put any resources into correcting. Not saying we souldnt try so yes the more emails and phone calls the better.

Re: Website or Phone Number for JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE

Thanks for the support.

I picked up my 14 Overland on March 7, 2013. It has an Oct. 2012 map. Even here in Maine we have new interstate exits, new hospitals, new shopping areas, new businesses, new development areas and associated streets, etc. that don't appear on my Jeeps map but they are accurate on my Garmin handheld.

Roads and speed limits change all the time. Navteq keeps their database quite up-to-date. I have submitted several corrections to map errors and they have been incorporated in updates after a few months. All interstate speed limits in Maine were increased about a year ago. These changes are in the latest Garmin update (Navteq maps).

I have always heard from Jeep that they supply the GPS mapping and navigation programs while Navteq only provides the map database. Apparently, Navteq must invest a lot of work to translate their native database into a JEEP usable format. At $150 per update, that apparently is not enough revenue for Navteq to do it very often. Maybe most Jeep owners never update their maps anyways.

Thanks again, Tom

Re: Website or Phone Number for JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE

I just went back to the website posted above (allthingsnavigation) (Navteq) that 1stJeepGC posted and they listed recent changes in the map.

Why Should You Update Your Uconnect® System's Map?

Last year alone, 569,847 miles of road were updated in the U.S.—and that's only the beginning. Here are a few other notable changes to the Uconnect® System*:

13,195 gas stations added
22,392 restaurants added
10,591 auto service shops added
3,948,564 street names and addresses added
3,503,237 street names and addresses updated
47,973 speed limit indications added

An updated map helps you avoid unnecessary detours that may arise due to road changes, business closings and construction. In addition to the national updates above, you can use the Map Change Dashboard to find out about specific map changes in your area.

Re: Website or Phone Number for JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE

From the same Navteq website that tells me that I have the most current map:

"An Updated Map is a Safe Map

To maximize the benefits of your Uconnect® System, it is important to keep your navigation map up-to-date. Every year, new roads appear and old roads are modified. The opening and closing of businesses likewise alters the available points of interest. Check out the map change dashboard* for a detailed look at the updated roads and points of interest in your area. You can also use the fuel savings calculator to estimate the financial benefits of your navigation system.

So what are you waiting for? Update your map and enjoy a more efficient and comfortable driving experience."

Re: Website or Phone Number for JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE

I just called HERE (Navteq). All she could tell me is that I have the most current map and that they hope to have a new map within the next year. She acknowledged that they had previously listed a mid-October release date but then they realized thay could not meet that deadline. I asked her if it's likely to be released in the next 3 months. She just stated that they have not defined the release date yet so she cannot say when it will be available.

Re: Website or Phone Number for JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE

I just read an old, 2013, article about Microsoft buying Nokia who had purchased Navteq in 2007. It's an old article but it sounds bad for the mapping businesses.

Microsoft Buys Nokia – What will become of Navteq/Here?

September 3, 2013 Mike Blumenthal 14 Comments
Microsoft bought Nokia today for $7.2 billion dollars. Nokia, you will recall, bought Navteq in 2007 for $8.1 billion in what was hailed at the time as pivotal move by Nokia into location based services.
But as Horace Dediu pointed out, by late 2012 Navteq had been losing about $1 billion a year for Nokia and the purchase effectively had cost Nokia’s stock holders $11 billion in total since it had been acquired. He notes that Google is rumored to be spending a similar $1 billion a year to maintain their Maps data. Tomtom, now worth about $1.5 billion in total, appears to have done little better with their $4 billion TeleAtlas purchase.
Neither company has kept up with Google in the pace of map development and certainly not in the pace of mapping updates. If you have ever had to suggest a map change to either TeleAtlas or Navteq and anticipate the map update, you know that you can get very, very old waiting. Both Google and OpenstreetMap have the ability to get updates through their systems in weeks not months or years. Neither Navteq nor TeleAtlas seem to.
Owning a mapping company has not provided much if any value to the purchasers. And it would appear that the expense of running them has constrained their ability to compete with Google.
