I don't have kids, but I was wondering if this app is safeguarded? By that I mean let's say your cruising down the freeway at 70 MPH, and your kid is playing with your phone, and he sends a command to shut down the engine. Will the car sense it's running and in motion and reject the shut down command? I'm assuming it would. And it always asks for your PIN # before it will let you do anything. But I was just wondering?
LOL no. It will only shut the engine off if the Jeep was remote started and you've yet to open the door and press the ignition switch.

I wish I had this feature on my cars 40 years ago, when I was living in Chicago in January when it was -10F.

worried about the kid doing something while driving- the app also notices when it's in motion (I forget but thing the car passes speedo info) and locks out everything but the radio apps like pandora.

Re: What Are You Paying A Month For Your U-Connect 8.4?

i just noticed the other day that if you use the "store" on the radio itself it will let you pay a year at a clip with 2 months free. so you get 12 months for ~$149.50

that gets you down to $12.50 a month which might matter to some.

I think my pain point is $9.99, but we'll see if when my free year expires if i want to cough up 12.50

You're right. You'll get a warning that the vehicle is in motion, and the app cannot be accessed at this time.

For what uconnect currently offers id probably pay $2.99. Milous said there are more updates coming to even the 14s so maybe they will add content to make it something people actually wany to pay for. I bet their current subscription rate is abysmal.

Agree. The only thing I'd like to keep, (In spite of not being able to find a use for it), is the phone / remote start feature. Mostly only for the "cool factor". And that for sure isn't worth over $20.00 a month.

If you use the Internet / Phone remote start feature, will it automatically turn on the A/C in hot temperatures, if you keep the temp setting on both "stations" at 72 degrees? Or do you have to have the A/C button pressed in with the light illuminated on the button before you shut it off?

I refuse to pay their price for the U-Connect. Not worth it. I let mine lapse.

For Satellite, I always let it lapse, then wait for Sirius to make me a low offer. After my 12 free months, I got like 6 mos for $25 for radio (just make sure you call before the 6 mos are up).

Once the 6 mos are about to end, call to cancel. They'll offer you another deal but at a higher price. I always tell them if they don't give me another 6 mos for $24.99 then I don't want it. They have always given it to me. The salesperson HAS to try, to keep the bosses happy but they'll come down in price. I've been playing this game for years. LOL

Also, the traffic can be done cheap too. A couple of bucks a month if you want traffic info. $11.97 for 6 months is what I got it down to. Just have to ask for it. I refuse to pay the higher prices.

It's amazing today how many companies you can haggle with, that in years past it was not possible. I guess that's because they actually had stuff back then the people actually WANTED.

i leave my climate stuff on "auto" all the time- i jsut set the temp and let it do it's thing.

It always has the climate control running from remote start- aiming for my settings when i get in.

There's a setting so that nder a certain temp (40 maybe) it also will turn on the heated seat and steering while. Also over a certain temp (80 maybe) it will turn on ventilated seats.

Thanks for posting this. Just signed up each of our two vehicles for five months of radio for $22.77 each including taxes and fees and five months of traffic for $9.98 each including everything. Put a note on the calendar to call in late December to either cancel or renew at similar rates.

At these prices I think the services are worth it. At their regular price, not.
