What Are You Paying A Month For Your U-Connect 8.4?

I'm curious to know what everyone is paying for this monthly, and what you think of it? Along with how often you actually use it. I haven't activated mine yet. To be honest I'm trying to come up with a use for it, but I can't . At least not enough to warrant paying a monthly fee for the thing. I probably should add I didn't order it. The vehicle we chose had the option.

I heard it comes with, "a 12 month free trial". But I'm afraid to activate it because I'll have to play hell getting out of the deal after a year if I no longer want it. That's the problem when you allow these people the ability to access your credit card, or whatever for, "automatic monthly billing". I doubt they'll send you a bill snail mail every month. They like automatic access to your funding. I don't.

How many of you tried it for a year, than said the hell with it? If you did, what did you experience at the end of the deal? Or does it require some sort of application by you as the owner, in order to continue the service? Thanks in advance. I'm just trying to determine the depth of the water before I jump in.

I didn't even know there was anything to activate lol. Every feature I have seen seems to work as far as I can tell. What features require activation?

When I press the "APPS" button it starts wanting information. Starting with the whole "Let's Begin" deal. Did yours do that? Everything else works like navigation, etc.

Re: What Are You Paying A Month For Your U-Connect 8.4?

I had the free 12 month trial for my 2014 Limited. I mostly used the engine start when the standard remote start distance was out of range. It was great when using it from my office right before my 3 minute walk to the parking garage. It was really useful during those hot summer months as it allowed the interior to cool off by the time I got to the Jeep, and warmed up during the winter. As for the other features like the remote locking/unlocking the doors, although I used it on occasion I hardly had a use for that. When your trial is near it's end, you will receive an email notification letting you know its about to expire and what steps to take if you'd like to start paying monthly. I believe it's $14.99 per month now, which I think is a bit high for what you get, so I never re-activated mine and to be honest I don't miss it. I would probably think about it if it was under $10. Go ahead, why not take advantage of the free 12 months.

Maybe he is referring to the monthly charge for optional Wi-Fi.

Mine did that. Go for it, don't worry it will automatically expire after the free 12 month trial.

Thanks, I will. I already have a problem in that my cell phone won't connect or "pair" with the Bluetooth. Our phones are both Motorola Moto G's, and my carrier is Consumer Cellular. For what ever reason they're not compatible with U-Connect 8.4. So I can't use the phone remote start, which is a feature I wouldn't mind having. I agree with you in that I'm not seeing anything on that screen I'm willing to pay $15.00 a month for.

FYI. Bluetooth has nothing to do with the being able to remote start through the Uconnect app

If you don't see anything on UConnect worth $15.00/month, then you certainly won't after that promotional pricing is over and it goes back to the normal pricing (which I believe is $21.99/month). I don't understand why your phones won't pair via Bluetooth to the UConnect system - pairing is independent of the features you pay for on UConnect. To use remote start you'd have to download the UConnect app - if your Motos can't run apps, then the remote start; lock/unlock; etc. features won't be available to you.

I had the 1 year free trial, dealer activated it at delivery. I let it lapse, never used it.

It's not the phones. The Motorola Moto G is one of the most popular of the lower cost Smart Phones out there. It's my carrier, Consumer Cellular. U-Connect 8.4 won't recognize it. They only recognize the larger carriers. Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, Sprint, etc.

The Moto G runs apps. I'm just not familiar on how to do it. It says on the U-Connect 8.4 video on You Tube, that there is no charge for the app. I just have to figure out how to do it. Or else take it to the dealer. The salesman said if I had any issues running the stuff, to just come by. I just may take them up on that.
