What USB standard does the 2016 WK2 (8.4 NAV)support?

I can't find this information anywhere, and Chrysler has no clue either.

For 2016 WK2 models with the 8.4 NAV system, is the USB port USB 1.1, 2.0, 3.0, etc....?

Does anyone know? Or at the very least, is there anyone who has tried plugging in a USB 3.0 flash drive and had it work?

USB 3.0 is fully backward compatible with 2.0 etc. Hence the name "Universal Serial Bus"... Every device will work just at different speeds none of which would make a difference in playing audio files or updating the headunit firmware. Not sure why this would really matter to anyone.

USB 3.0 is backward compatible with 2.0, but NOT with 1.x. So if the Jeep's USB port is USB 1.1, then a USB 3.0 drive will not work with it. That's why I'm asking.

Dude... USB 1.0/1.1 has been dead since freaking 2000 when 2.0 was released. It's 2015 that means usb 3.0 is backward compatible for devices created in the last 15 years...

It's not as dead as you think. I run into them all the time - for certain devices where throughput is not a critical issue, some manufacturers still use USB 1.1 in order to save money. It wouldn't be an issue except that it's no longer compatible with the latest USB standard.

I just wanted to make sure that what's in the Jeep didn't fall in that category.

Go test drive a '16 with nav, bring a 3.0 usb with some music on it and see if it works. Then you know for sure.

If you think 2011+ automobiles could even remotely come with usb 1.0/1.1 you are completely disconnected with technology...

You will be fine with usb 3.0 and 2.0 sticks

I don't think you're aware of just how many 1.1 connectors there are out there.

No, you wouldn't expect to see one in a modern laptop, but that's because for that type of device, throughput is critical.

However, for many devices where throughput is not critical, you would be surprised how often a 1.1 connector is used.
