Exclamation what's the best AfterMarket Double Din Deck

So i'm debating on the;
Pioneer AVIC-Z140BH
Kenwood DNX9990HD
Clairion NX702
Alpine INA-W910

I need the Navigation, but most of all I really want to make use of my backup camera and the steering wheel controls, I wonder how hard to make these connection work with a aftermarket deck.

Anyone had experience with any of these decks.

Thanks

Re: what's the best AfterMarket Double Din Deck

You just need a couple PAC adapters or equivalent to make it work

Pac-Audio.com Product Search | iPod Integration for your car and More by Pac-Audio - Connecting you to the future

I like the Kenwood (garmin nav), but I would have had to rip out most of the OEM stuff to make it work. Connectors and some components are proprietary.

You may want to check in the audio/visual sub forum.

Re: what's the best AfterMarket Double Din Deck

Greetings,

As ColdCase said, look at the PAC stuff for connections.

With regards to decks:

Pioneer is coming out with new in-dash units shortly and the information is on the website. They are now using a new GPS interface. I believe they are using IGO Primo. The Alpine model is another old one, where as the new ones (see the INE-W927HD) out have been using IGO Primo for the last year. The Clarion NX702 has gotten mixed reviews and is not slated to updated according to what I read. The Kenwood is updated and new model is now out (DNX-890HD) and they have improved the Garmin interface but no Terrain features. The Kenwood WiFi has the top of line Garmin features ($$$$).

For the 2013 model year right now Kenwood is the only one using Garmin and other manufactures have been switching to IGO Primo. In terms of the technology within the units, they have gotten somewhat faster, but not at the level of the tablets.

Best for now.

Re: what's the best AfterMarket Double Din Deck

I've had the Alpine INE 928 for almost a year now. PAC adapters are plug and play. One for the steering wheel control, one NAV / video module. Went with a boyo backup camera. 8" screen looks stock. Only needed a minute amount of trimming inside the top of the jeep bezel; can't see it at all from the outiside.

Alpine Electronics of America, Inc.
PAC adapters as posted above

As mentioned above, although these big touch screens are looking more and more like a tablet, they don't perform like one. They are good, but they can't compare to the dual and quad core processors in the tablets. These two devices need to become one. Full tablet integration isn't quite there yet. Though I do hear rumors of mirror-ing that is intriguing. Good luck.

You've had the Alpine INE 928 installed in your WK2? if so, may I see a picture of it? I'm curious how that huge screen fits/looks. Thanks!
