Where to - Point on Map

Trying out some of the nav options today and stuck on this one. Using what the manual says, it won't work. I cannot drag the crosshairs, just the map can be moved and my finger is to big to see what is under the crosshairs. Maybe I 'm misunderstanding but I can't get it to point where I want to go. Anyone use this and can give some guidance? Anyone use a netbook stylus? Thanks.

Never mind, figured it out, but not the way the manual says.
