Got a 2015 with the alpine system, which center channel 3.5" speaker do yu guys think will be the best for my truck

Infinity reference 3002 CFX 3 ohms and 91 dB
JBL GX302 2.3 ohms and 89 dB

Both speakers are made by Harman, have the plus one cone and look similar, price is around the same for both, just one is 2.3 ohms and the other 3 ohms.

THX in advance

Greetings,

Since both of your choices are coaxial speakers if I am not mistaken, the most important thing to do is to match the tweeters to the front door speakers. This especially true if you are upgrading them. For example, the factory tweeters are a soft (non metal) dome tweeter, therefore you should look for a 3.5 that has a softer dome tweeter.

Chances are, if the center is miss matched to the front doors, you might not like the different sounds while listening to your music. The same thing is also applies to the metal dome tweeters. You might not like the natural sound of the center with metal tweeter in the front doors.

Always look for the higher sensitivity rating of 90db or higher. There are wide band full range speakers that work efficiently with the center position. The factory center speaker is a wide band full range speaker that is set to a band width crossover point. Just remember, you are locked in to the present xover points and time delay of the factory system.

Best for now.:)

My experience is that any aftermarket center speaker is "hot" and you may end up adding a resistor in series to balance it out.

But upgrading the center speaker is definitely worth it.

Guys thanks for the advice, I got a good deal on the JBL and went for it, I installed about a month ago a set of JBL 6x9 comps un front and 6-1/2 in the rear and couldn't be happier with how much improvement they made.

Will let you know how they turned out.
