Re: Who has a rear DVD?

Great system, the kids love it and it’s integrated and convenient... I have had several panoramic sunroofs in other cars and never really used them. It would be a hassle to take iPads in and out of the vehicle all the time and they would scream “steal me” if you forgot to remove. The sound quality is good through the headphones and video is also good.

Re: Who has a rear DVD?

thanks. as someone mentioned a pano sunroof doesn't do much good when you are using your rack often for gear.

i like that the dvd is integrated. i wish the feedback on picture and audio quality was a bit better for the money.

jpjr, the picture quality is really solid for non BR, I'd equate it to 720 ish type clarity. my only experience with the audio quality is while adjusting it for the kids while in the front seat. from what others have said, the best wireless headset audio quality is from the back seat due to signal strength. as stated above, the kids love it and it's really convenient for parents to get everyone squared away for road trips.

the only real complaint is the holy crap $1500 entry tag. others have spoken highly of a similar Alpine roof mount receiver. YMMV.

You can convert the DVD movies for the iPad (iTunes).

I prefer the iPad, its portable, and you can have more then one for the back seats ;-) and you can use them for games.

I think its cleaner and once that is done...you can sell you dvd's and get part of your purchase price back. I couldn't be happier.
Ripping movies and then selling the DVDs would be "illegal" and pirating. If you want to make "backup" copies then you should retain original media as true ownership. Same goes for other optical media to include music, movies and games.

DVD is 480p if it's a progressive player. I doubt the LCD panel used in the system would exceed that spec. The low grade plastic of the rear system doesn't blend well with the interior and detracts from the cabin's appearance. For kids sake, the quality is just fine. All they want are flashing lights to sedate them.

Re: Who has a rear DVD?

Does anyone else find it weird how many people (adults and kids, but kids are different matter, they don't know any better when they are little) need non-stop external stimuli? Music player, cell phone, iPad. I guess I could put non-electronic things like book or newspaper on the list as well. I observe it on NYC subway every day (and on the streets too). I rarely see people that look like they are thinking about something anymore.

I guess it comes to some kind of obsessive-compulsive desire to fill that void in their head by constantly distracting themselves with something or consuming some information no matter what it really is. Or to make these voices in the head stop.

Patient: "Doctor, I hear voices in my head!"

Doctor: "Are they taking to you or are they singing?"

Patient: "They are singing!"

Doctor: "Have you tried to sing along?"

Schmoe,

Whattaya talkin, about? Can't quite catch your drift as I'm typing on Tapatalk for JG post, have an earbud in on cell to my boss, have the laptop fired up to find the next mod, all while sitting on the can in an airplane about to take off.

Gotta go.

I like to unplug as much as I can and always in deep thoughts.

Oh really....then I guess all those businesses set up just for that sort of thing are all illegal...Amazon, Ebay, etc.
