I contacted my dealer via email on the 12th after Milous had posted confirmation that the RHR was now available. I clearly stated that I wanted to make sure my order had the RHR and to change it as needed. I followed up with several phone calls and more emails.

Today I finally got a response.... that the dealer can't manually change the order, that the media center that is supposed to be put in that vehicle is the one that I will get, that I was just assigned a VIN, that they can not yet access the options listings/"window sticker" in their system yet with this newly assigned VIN.

Needless to say, I am a bit frustrated right now. In 2011.....15 years+ after the public started to use the Internet in mass, why isn't this easier? Jeep has a long long long way to go in fixing their dealership network...

Re: Will ALL Summit orders change to the new 730N RHR?

^^^@Dan-I just got back from the dealer. Since my order had not been picked up, they were able to edit my order and add the RHR. They still didn't have an idea when mine would go into production. Just glad i didn't have to cancel and place a new order. They said all the V6 Summits they had ordered were in production but none of the V8 Summits were. One of the V6s is a rugged brown, so it definitely isn't a delay with the color.

That fits with what my dealership owner was telling me a couple weeks ago. Seems Jeep's initial estimates on V6 vs. V8 and 2WD vs 4WD are almost exactly opposite what the market is asking for. They expected a lot more V6 and 2WD orders than they have gotten so the transfer cases and V8's are in short supply. To keep the line running they are building as many V6's WK2's as they have orders for while they make more Hemi's.

It figures, I want a V8 4X4

HELP!...... I called the sales manager this afternoon too and spoke to him. He's nice, but busy. He said the Summit comes with everything and there aren't any radio options for it so it will get what it is supposed to have. So he is clueless.

pooch1005 - Do you have a VIN yet???????????? Supposedly I have a VIN but they are saying there is no way to change an order......getting frustrated! Argh. What exactly did your dealer say he was able to do.....anything special other than he could edit it or add it? I need to communicate exactly what to my dealer to get them on board.....or maybe I should have him call your dealer since my guy doesn't quite get it.

My dealer said the same thing on my Summit order. He said that my order (end of Dec) will have the new radio. I already have a vin, and the build sheet (according to dealer) does not have a premium radio credit on it. Dealer said he could not change the order, and I would not be smart to have him cancel and reorder because the wait will be way longer and according to him I am already getting the new radio. Is he completely wrong?

Re: Will ALL Summit orders change to the new 730N RHR?

Danco......my order/build sheet titled "Configuration Preview" dated 12/30/2010 doesn't state which radio but does state "3XL_____No Charge_____-$305_____-271" which is the credit amount for the substituted 430N RHB. My order didn't actually get entered until after the first of the year.

pooch1005......do you have a recent order printout? If so, maybe you could share the order detail part???

Re: Will ALL Summit orders change to the new 730N RHR?

When I went this afternoon, I told my salesman that if my order could be edited, I wanted to change it to include the RHR. I told him that if it couldn't be edited, I didn't want to cancel the order and reorder because I didn't want to lose my place in the production line. He went to the sales manager's office to check and my status was "BA" (I think). According to him that status meant the order had been received but not scheduled for production and the order could be edited. According to him, when they went into the edit screen, it automatically changed the radio to the 730n RHR. My old order sheet showed a $305 credit for the radio. The new build sheet does not distinguish the radio on there but the credit is gone. He assures me that my order includes the RHR now. I still don't have a VIN though! Getting impatient that the status of my order hasn't changed in 5 weeks. My salesman told me that if I had a VIN, it would have been able to be edited.

Thats a long time. I know its a Summit but my order went to C status only 2 days after I placed my order. Thats for a standard Overland, but still thats a huge difference 2 days to 5 weeks. My understanding is that when its in BA status which is pending order it can be edited. Once it changes from BA to C status (tentative scheduling) it cannot. In my case that happened very quickly. No VIN is assigned until it goes to D status.

Re: Will ALL Summit orders change to the new 730N RHR?

Hmmmmm....

pooch1005 - Thanks so much for the details. I don't have a new order sheet so don't know if my -$305 credit is gone or not now compared to when I ordered. Luckily, maybe, since I just got my VIN assigned AFTER the RHR became available I guess there is hope for me that the system automatically changed to the RHR. So as of today you don't have a VIN eh....odd. You ordered on 12/10/2010 and mine was ordered around 1/3/2011 and I supposedly have a VIN.....and the only difference is the color.....mine is a 4x4 V8 but in Black.

JTS97Z28 - I have a VIN (supposedly, they didn't tell me what the VIN was though)....so I guess I am in "D" status now.

Thanks for all the comments.....very helpful. I'll post more once I know more. I really need an update build sheet or my VIN to access my window sticker (if that is accurate)...
