I'm having issues with my Voice Recognition, and I wondered if anyone could help me figure out if they are as a result of hardware, software, or possibly a combination of the two?
Since Day 1 with my JGC, I've had problems with the RA4 understanding my voice commands. I didn't think much of it because I was really only using it to make calls; I wasn't using VR to its fullest capabilities. However, I tried to use it for Navigation this weekend, and it was disastrous. Unfortunately, it did not understand a word I said. I referred to the Tips Card to make sure I was using standard language for the system, and it still didn't work. No matter what command I tried to give it, its inclination was to make a phone call. I made sure to enunciate clearly and face forward so that the mic would pic me up loud & clear. Still, no luck. The closest I got was "Navigate to Home," and it prompted me to connect a new phone.
I use my BT hands free for phone calls regularly, and I've never had anyone complain about hearing or understanding me.
I'm currently running 13.19.0 (the dealer updated the software a month ago when I complained of the screen freezing. The screen still freezes intermittently, but that's the least of my concerns). So it looks like my VR issue has existed across versions...unless it was a bad update to 13.19.0....???
Does the VR issue sound like a hardware or software issue? Should I pursue having the Head Unit replaced? Or should I try to reapply the 13.19.0 update?
