Just wondering if a reboot of the radio with the 13.19 might have accomplished the same as a reinstall of the software??? Computer experience has seen improvement after a second reboot when things weren't working correctly. Never any rhyme or reason.

I had thought of this and sort of hinted at in my first post... at the time it was easier to try the software reload. If you are having a VR problem and or anyone else is and wants to try the reset method it would be good to hear back on this.

Willx,

I had my radio replaced last weekend and the new one came with the 13.19.0 version on it. I noticed that the voice response regarding "Find XXXX" for the navigation doesn't work worth a $h!%. Also the sending text messaging isn't working either. I go through the process of sending a text message and the voice response says "Message Sent" but it is never received by the person I sent it to. Do you think reinstalling the RA4 software on the new radio might help with any of this? I wasn't sure if this re-installation was geared for non-replaced radios that have used the update provided in the other thread you posted. The good news is that the radio replacement has stopped the random resets, freezes, etc.

When you ask it to find stuff does the radio say processing or does it sit there like a dumb turd. Just trying to descern if this is a Yelp issue or VR Problem?

So I have come to see that using yelp to find a destination works fairly well. When using the actual navigation system to try and find a destination, that doesn't work for crap.

Willx, did you find any more regarding the text message issue?

Not specifically. lankness basically had it down to 25 messages and it worked OK but I think there is more telematics updates enroute.

I have found the VR for the nav portion of the system to be difficult also. An example: If I say "enter address", it will only allow me to enter a street name of the last city and state I did my last search in (VR search and keypad search).

What I have found to correct this is instead of saying "enter address" is say "enter state" then it begins the process of entering the state, then city, then street, then house number. I don't know if this is the problem you were having Imcraz, but it sound similar.

I'm having issues with my Voice Recognition, and I wondered if anyone could help me figure out if they are as a result of hardware, software, or possibly a combination of the two?

Since Day 1 with my JGC, I've had problems with the RA4 understanding my voice commands. I didn't think much of it because I was really only using it to make calls; I wasn't using VR to its fullest capabilities. However, I tried to use it for Navigation this weekend, and it was disastrous. Unfortunately, it did not understand a word I said. I referred to the Tips Card to make sure I was using standard language for the system, and it still didn't work. No matter what command I tried to give it, its inclination was to make a phone call. I made sure to enunciate clearly and face forward so that the mic would pic me up loud & clear. Still, no luck. The closest I got was "Navigate to Home," and it prompted me to connect a new phone.

I use my BT hands free for phone calls regularly, and I've never had anyone complain about hearing or understanding me.

HELP!!!

I'm currently running 13.19.0 (the dealer updated the software a month ago when I complained of the screen freezing. The screen still freezes intermittently, but that's the least of my concerns). So it looks like my VR issue has existed across versions...unless it was a bad update to 13.19.0....???

Does the VR issue sound like a hardware or software issue? Should I pursue having the Head Unit replaced? Or should I try to reapply the 13.19.0 update?
