Wiring Question

I am installing a Beltronics Direct Wire smart plug as seen in the following link. http://www.beltronics.com/store/dire...tplug-red.html

I saw the other write up for the invisi cord that was wired to the autodim mirror, however the way this is setup i will be wiring this more under the panel under the steering wheel to allow the smart plug to be easily accessible. Does anyone have any input on which wire to tap for 12V that is switched w/ the ignition? Also are there any grounds in that area? I will be double checking with a voltmete but just wanted to see if anybody has done anything like this.

Re: Wiring Question

I suggest you tap into the 12V switchable power outlet that is in the lower dash storage compartment. The fuse is M6. The wire runs from the fuse through the firewall on the passenger side. Thats where I tapped into. I can't remember what the wire color is though. Sorry. It's not easy as you have to remove the glove box and some trim. But it's doable if you take your time. Having a quality multimeter is a must.

Re: Wiring Question

I ended up tapping a wire that was basically behind the glove compartment. I did a little write up of it.
