Recently added a NEW 7 pin connector to my 2011 JGC to the existing 7pin that was resting inside bumper. Added fuse to fuse box and went to dealer and asked that they update the computer. Programmed vehicle for class 4 towing.

7 pin is only getting running lights and power.

Dealer is suggesting I replace defective wiring harness and add Mopar harness.

Is the harness the plug portion that is on the trucks end or the wires going back to front of vehicle? The wires have no connection point behind panels. Continous run from tail to front. I cannot imagine this is aftermarket.

Is there something I am missing?

Need some guidance here. Thanks

Sounds like they are referring to the short part of the harness that comes from instde the rear fender and runs to the hitch. What brand of 7 pin harness did you purchase?

I think Ratchet is right, there is another connection inside the rear fender. I could be mistaken. So there is the long harness (Main) to the front of the car, a short one (Sub) from the fenter to the back bumper and then the pig tail that goes to the 7 pin socket.
I'd also recommend picking up a 7 pin tester. They are cheap enough and make checking a breeze.
