Tell me about it. We wouldnt have issues with HID's then. My buddy put HID's into his high beams, since DRL run off highbeams on half voltage, he had flickering.

I could be wrong.
None of the lights on the front of my Jeep are on unless I turn them on. The knob has four settings - Auto, off, parking lights, and headlamps. In the "off" setting, there are no exterior lights on. I'm in the US.

Now Im just curious, did your dealership disable them??? Have you actually looked under the hood to see if those relays have been removed.

I just spoke with a friend from the states, and the dealerships disable the DRL's sometimes so the customer does not need to do this.

Re: 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee-how to disable DRL's

Maybe they disabled them, but they didn't tell me about it. I'll check for those relays tonight (drove the truck in today). None of the other WK2s I've seen on the road around here* had DRLs glowing, either.

*I've only seen two so far.

I think DRLs are not on after you start the car. They only turn on after you put it in D.. or at least that's how it is with my other car.

Re: 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee-how to disable DRL's

I THINK I remember reading somewhere that in the U.S., DRL's on the 05-'10's can be activated by the dealer with the Starscan tool?, rather than pulling or installing relays.
Perhaps they made DRL's standard on all North American 2011's, and rather than pay to have a dealer disable them, you simply pull the relays?

You know how when you're behind a truck or SUV at a red light, you can see your own parking lights and headlights reflecting in their tailgate? There's no such reflection from my car if I have my headlamp switch set to "off."

I remember there was a thread very similar to this one back when the current gen Tacoma was newer and I bought mine. In the end it was determined that Canadian Tacomas had DRL while US ones didn't. Mine doesn't.

How close are you to the US line? You may want to call a US dealer and see if they can do it for you. DRL SUCKS big time
