2014 Grill Insert Swap to Honeycomb and Grill Rings Help

Hi, I got the honeycomb inserts for my 2014 Limited and I briefly tried the top down method and once I took the top two pins out to be able to pull the grill forward I realized either Im not doing it right or some of you have very long skinny arms. I am 6'4 and have long arms and I dont see how its possible to reach the far end left and right clips?

Even If I could reach the clips which I can for the middle sections how they hell do you get them to "unclip" Any pointers or advice on the above issues?

Also how are the grill rings removed ? Thanks!

Re: 2014 Grill Insert Swap to Honeycomb and Grill Rings Help

Just did this on my 2014 altitude...you can punch out the honeycomb inserts if you apply enough pressure and it won't break any of the clips. Some of the clips are stubborn and you might have to use a screwdriver (I wrapped mine in a towel to keep from scratching anything) to get some of em out but just keep at it. Also I recommend gloves/ long sleeves cause it will scratch the hell out of your arms.

Re: 2014 Grill Insert Swap to Honeycomb and Grill Rings Help

I did my mesh inserts with the bumper off the car and on the ground and barely got the clips free without breaking any of them. I still don't see how this is even possible while the front end is still installed.

Agreed 100%. Considering its not that hard to remove the bumper, I dont see a reason to scratch up your arms with the top/down method

It's also not hard to remove the inserts without removing the bumper.
I don't see a point in possibly causing damage to the bumper by removing it if not necessary.

Why not do it your way on your car and let everyone else do it how they please on theirs?

I agree! It wasn't that hard . . . you just need a long screwdriver & some patience! I removed the 2 left side inserts to access the horn & took maybe 10 minutes, tops!

Re: 2014 Grill Insert Swap to Honeycomb and Grill Rings Help

If you know what your doing then you won't damage the bumper when removing it. Its VERY simple to remove and re-install (maybe 5 minutes to remove)... but if you don't have that type of experience or desire to do so, the top down method is for you.

WOW, who knew?? I should have installed a train horn in there if I'd known it was that easy!
