Re: 2014 JGC Towing Review w/Pictures and Stats

We're heading to San Diego next week with our camper in tow. We'll be heading west through the mountains and have a question about braking on the way down from the passes. Does the cruise control system limit the speed via fueling, braking or something else when speed is being gained? I don't like to use CC when towing, but would consider it in this scenario if the Jeep will manage the speed better than I can.

Won't heading west out of San Diego put you in the Pacific? Might want your scuba gear.

If you hit up Seattle or the PNW, make sure and take a rain coat. While it might not be raining everyday it seems to always be overcast and some kind of precipitation is falling.

Anyway, my Jeep made me branch out into so much more in the camping world... I now have a 2015 Longhorn Crew with the Cummins (High Output) and a 15.5k GVWR 5th wheel. MY Jeep Diesel was still the most comfortable best preforming package for a trailer your size though IMHO.
I ended up buying a 2015 Overland EcoDiesel. Now going over a few of your threads I think I have the same brake controller, Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller. Do you have any pictures of where you installed your controller?

Easiest Brake Controller with the latest technology is the Tuson.
DirecLink NE Brake Controller - DirecLink.com

It takes 5 minutes to install and simply plugs into the OBDII and you then put the Jeep trailer brake adapter on the other end and plug 'er in.

You then adjust the trailer braking using the handset adjuster. I have over 5000 miles on it and it works flawlessly. Feels like the trailer and car are one unit when you brake.

When you don't need it, I just remove the handset and put the telephone cord on top of the footwell panel.

Very impressed with it......

Willx,
Do you have any pictures of the P3 installed in the cubby? Also have you used tow mirrors? If so what brand have you found that worked great, with minimal vibration.

You say when you passed the other car you romped it, and your transmission went from 3rd to 5th? Shouldn't it be the other way around?
