2014 Summit recovery tow points?

If a summit is in the ditch frontwards or backwards, what is the recommended hooking points to pull it out?
Let's assume you can't get to the hitch cover or remove it...

I can't believe you can really use the roof rack!
It doesn't look too exciting if you get this thing stuck...
I may have to remove the hitch cover and just leave a hook in the hitch...

First ask yourself how you got stuck in the ditch! Then ask yourself would you do it if you don't believe it. The roof rack really? If you're in sideways you should try the mirror.

Use the recovery points as described in the manual. Never tie to your suspension or straight to your body parts, including the bumpers, mirrors and the roof rack.

Personally I think it's ridiculous that every single jeep doesn't have real tow points front and back. They push the go anywher angle, but don't provide you with the means to free yourself if you get a little too adventurous.

LoL agree, almost every jeep commercial out there shows the summit plowing through 3 feet of snow, driving through streams, driving on the beach and on trails. Just dont get stuck right. I bet if they redo bumpers on the 2016 refresh that they add them on, or at least the optiion. Mounting points are there just a little plastic redesign been enough complaints they are probably hearing it.

Re: 2014 Summit recovery tow points?

There's quite a few Summit owners who have fitted hooks and have cut a neat notch in the bumper to access them. Search the Garage.

As far as the rear, if you can't access the hitch, you probably couldn't access underbody hooks... so are likely to need some shovelling either way.

Cheers,
Steve

They should definitely do that. When I bought my Limited I took the tow package, but I told them I can't take the Jeep without front tow points, so they put tow hooks on the front and I use the Beaver step in the back for a tow point if needed.

Or the windshield wipers or antenna...

I totally agree - and our idiotic Australian Jeeps cannot even be retrofitted. Beyond belief!

I might write to mike Manley and ask for an explanation - do you think I'll get a reply?
