I found that the Allen key wrench works better than a screw driver to pop off the airbag. Find one that fits the hole perfectly and the flat end of it should hit the spring perfectly.

To remove steering wheel, you need a 10mm Hex on a breaker bar. careful when pulling the wheel off as you have to slide some of the wires through the wheel.
On my 2014 WK2, steering wheel came off easy, some may need a wheel puller.

Good Luck!
How hard do you have to push on the allen wrench to release the spring? I am getting my new wheel next week and stuck and allen wrench through the hole just to get an idea of what I was up against. I think I felt the spring, but was wondering how hard I will need to push to get the spring to disengage? How far does the allen wrench go in? Do you know what size allen wrench you used?

Re: 2014+ WK2 Airbag Removal instructions/ Steering wheel removal

Sorry to dredge up this thread again, but I had a question. The directions in post #1 seem great, but they indicate this is the procedure for a damaged or deployed airbag, and to see another section for a non-deployed bag removal.

Is that any different in the procedure outlined?

Also does anyone know the torque specs of the steering wheel bolt (s) for re-install?

I will be putting the SRT wheel in the Durango soon.

Thanks in advance!
Chris

think you need to visit the dealer and have them add the NHS option to your vin via dealer connect if it didnt come from the factory with it. assuming all are wired for this as it is an option or standard across all models of the platform

can anyone else confirm?

Mine JGC and DD came with heated wheel option. The SRT wheel heat never worked for me.

Works just fine on mine totally plug and play you need to make sure your wheel has all the harnesses it needed when buying them. A lot are incomplete and missing the heated wheel harness that they should include.
