Re: 2014 WK2 fob panic button disable

It's been a month since my fob got its leather loin cloth, and I'm happy to say no false alarms, no chafing, all is quite quiet in the neighborhood.

The leather key fob fix did not prevent my WK2 from remote starting in my garage yesterday!! I checked another thread and found an easy disable of the remote start on the vehicle. I disconnected the hood latch switch and the remote start function is dead. It's an easy procedure and reversible if you want the feature back.

The first pic shows the latch switch connector on top for visibility, the second shows it tucked underneath for use. Not shown is a very small plastic bag put around connector to limit contamination by rain, road grime, whatever.

I accidently pressed the panic button in a quiet campground after curfew. Let me just say that "PANIC" is the correct word to describe my mental state when I was trying to get the fob out of my pocket...

That inspired me to disable the damn thing by surrounding the contact button inside the fob with some kind of donut. I found a 1/4" rubber washer and cut it to make it fit.

It works perfectly and reversible if needed.

THANK YOU for this GREAT IDEA!!

I did pretty much the same thing. I cut a small block of rubber into a rectangle with the center area open big enough for the micro switch. It works like a charm! I did this to both of my key fobs and now have no worries about the panic alarm being accidentally pressed.
