Services after that are going to cost more. The 24 months/30,000 miles service is $1295.
That is ridiculous. Why is an oil change so expensive. I would just do the service on my own and save the receipts in case you need warranty work done.

Re: 8k mile oil change

Yes, it is ridiculous. Of course they claim to "check" the vehicle and also do a tire rotation. I could easily do it myself but unfortunately here there is a risk loosing the warranty and I have a few claims. When the warranty issues are solved I will take that risk and do it myself (with original parts).

We have another problem here in Australia - the importer haven't bothered to make a service and warranty book that includes the new 3.6 engine. I have asked both the dealer service dept. and the importer for a book that shows the maintenance schedule for the 3.6 but they say it doesn't exist and the service is the same as older engines.

That means they will change spark plugs at 24 months/30000 miles even though I'm pretty sure the plugs are rated to 90000 miles and who knows what else they change to make more profit!

I would much appreciate if anybody could give me the "real" schedule, maybe a copy of the US service book.

how about this:

http://wk2jeeps.com/wk2_maintenance.htm

And you can do all of your maintenance, as long as you keep receipts to prove it was done according to schedule.

Re: 8k mile oil change

I have four years of free oil changes. The dealer offers two, I negoiated two more as part of the deal. Normally they charge $34 for regular, $60 for synthetic.

Re: 8k mile oil change

In October, I bought 4 oil changes for $60 that they were offering. I took my Commander in last week and bought the same for it as well. With the Hemi it was always over $30-$35, so getting 4 for $60 was a no brainer for me. I can't buy the oil/filter for that price to do it myself. It is written as a Chrysler service contract so it is able to be used at any dealer. They don't offer it down under?

Thanks for the link!

We have a different legal system in Australia so I may not get away with doing it myself and keeping receipts. Anyway, I told them not to rotate the wheels and "only" got billed $329.39. Here is what they charged:

Labour: $168.00
400g degreaser: $6.00
Oil drain plug: $23.29
Oil filter: $27.61
Opticlean: $1.09
Oil: $50.00
Waste oil levy: $7.95
Workshop supplies: $15.50
Tax: $29.95

I guess they dumped the oil on the floor and used a lot of time and degreaser to mop it up

Wow, that is a lot of money for that. You could always just call Chrysler and ask them about doing it yourself and keeping records..

there was a thread on JF recently where this topic came up, and there is a rep from Chrysler Customer Care who responded, maybe you could ask him..

All this at zero cost when you buy from them. I know I sound like an ad but its all true.
Can I ask what dealer this is? I'm on the market and Perry Hall isn't too far from me. Thanks!

Re: 8k mile oil change

And by the way what is Opticlean? The windows were clean when I handed the vehicle in and no cleaner when I got it back. And workshop supplies?

Does anybody know how long time a 3.6 Laredo first service is scheduled to take?
