Adding tow package to a Laredo E

Hey guys. I just ordered the mopar tow hitch receiver, bezel and 7+4 electrical connector kit for my '15 Laredo E.

Does anybody know if there is anything else that needs to be done/upgraded/added to the jeep for it to be tow ready? I know that factory offered tow packages can include engine oil coolers or additional transmission coolers. The 3.6 actually has a liquid to oil heat transfer unit built into the oil filter housing underneath the intake manifold. So that is a plus.

But what about the tranny?

Basically, what does the factory tow package include when you add it.

Thanks in advance guys.

From Jeep Directly:

Trailer Tow Group IV
180-Amp Alternator
7 and 4 Pin Wiring Harness
Class IV Receiver Hitch
Delete Rear Tow Hook
Full Size Spare Tire
Steel Spare Wheel
Heavy Duty Engine Cooling
The heavy-duty engine cooling system is designed to vent excess heat generated by heavy engine use.
Rear Load Leveling Suspension

Granted you don't have the full package you will be fine without it. You have the receiver, bezel and connector kit however from the factory your Towing harness isn't activated so you won't get any power to your trailer. You must take it to Jeep to have them activate it. Believe they usually charge about 1 HR of labor to get it done. If you're on good terms with them they may do it for you for either little or no charge..

Re: Adding tow package to a Laredo E

the tow package also comes with load leveling rear shocks.. But honestly, I tow about 4000lbs without it, and the jeep doesnt even sag down much.

Hey I was thinking about doing that same thing. Have you completed the install? Just wanted to see how your experience with it was. Hard/easy?

Thanks

I just completed mine about 3 weeks ago, 15' Altitude and it went fairly smooth. I've not activated my harness yet as I've only used it for a bike rack.

For me the hardest part was removing the plastic bumper fascia because I wasn't ready with a flat head to pop the pressure clips out. once I figured the trick the entire process maybe took an hour. I used a dremel to drill the slits for the bezel clips.

Overall, I'm very happy with the look as it came out looking pretty stock.

Awesome. Thanks for the info. Im probably going to be doing this in the spring on my 15 Altitude. I feel tow hooks in the front and hitch in the back should be standard on all Jeeps.

Same here, I put the tow hooks on last weekend, prob took 30 minutes for the install, since I already figured out the bumper clips on the last install!
Good luck!

Hey I was just looking to start to gather my parts list for this upgrade but I seem to not be able to find the bezel for hitch. I can find every other bezel on this Jeep but the one I need. Do you have a part number? Thanks!

Just keep in mind you won't be able to pull the full weight that the factory installed package allows, even if it's the factory hitch.

Between the suspension, cooling and electrical, there's a lot more going on than just the hitch and connectors. I believe it also upgrades the brakes on certain trim levels, but I'm not 100% certain.
