Re: Any interest in an auto-off ECO module?

I am positively interested in this as well. Not too fond of having a "checklist" of buttons to press every time I back out of my garage (Ignition: check! ECO: check! Power mirrors: check! Homelink: check!) LOL

Re: Any interest in an auto-off ECO module?

Step 1: Randomly meet Grand Cherokee Calibration Engineer thru company's golf league.
Step 2: Get him to set vehicle to default to ECO mode OFF.
Step 3: Enjoy

Never really knew that you could create a module for stuff like this, but that would be great for anyone without my dumb luck like me.

Still interested in this. I hate having to push the button every time I start the car. So silly.

Re: Any interest in an auto-off ECO module?

I have a question. when you turn off eco mode does that also turn off the MDS or MDS stays on in non eco mode? I assume sport mode definitely shuts off mds correct?

How did he do that? Do you think that regular techs have access to the tools and know how to do the same thing, if they were a friend and so inclined?

He just pulled the bulb that lights up the button. ECO is still on.

Re: Any interest in an auto-off ECO module?

So I finally got a hold of him and got an explanation of what he did.

First the ECO-mode setting was changed to "Restore previously active setting" so it doesn't default per say. The other option for the setting was "Default ECO to off" and "Default ECO to on" (which was kinda forced on them to better comply with CAFE). The ECO-mode shift strategy was also updated and I have to say after testing, its not half bad. Hopefully they'll release it in a future TCU update.

As for getting your neighborhood tech to do it, I'm not so sure if its possible. He did the process with his laptop connected to the OBDII port and was using their internal software. Not sure if a technician can do it with their Wi-Tech systems.

Re: Any interest in an auto-off ECO module?

Tarponbeach... (or anyone one with helpful info) would you by chance have any photos of the wiring and CAN bus behind the eco switch? Do you know for sure that the eco button sends a ground pulse when pressed or is that an assumption? What is the present voltage and current if any? Any info would be great since I have not pulled the center dash apart myself yet.

Once we know how the signal works and what the internals look like, I could easily create a box that can be user configurable/adjustable to restore the previously active setting, default Eco to Off or default to Eco on.

thanks all for any help!

I am taking possession of a 2014 V-6 Summit tomorrow. My wife and I are buying this and a 2014 Ram Longhorn Hemi and the Jeep has been at the dealership for about a week and while waiting on the Ram we checked out the Jeep and I noticed that the lowest part of the center dash was not mounted correctly...it sticks out a little on the passenger side lower corner. When they fix it, if they have to remove the whole thing, I will tell them to take pictures. I will need to tell them exactly what needs to photographed so they get it right the first time.

Please let me know.
