Battery Compartment Safe Mod

I have a '12 Overland, with no QL, so there is an empty compartment under the driver's side seat. I have a small locking safe that will fit in there. To secure the safe, I'd need to drill 3 holes (my screws are about an inch long).

Am I going to do any damage to anything under the battery compartment by securing this safe? Anybody know what's under the battery compartment on the driver's side?

Re: Battery Compartment Safe Mod

My only concern would be if I drilled into the bottom frame/metal causing rust issues down the road.

Re: Battery Compartment Safe Mod

I'm unsure if there's anything under there, but it's easy enough to look. Use stainless H/W, and coat with silicone.

Ah. Hadn't considered this. Hopefully I can get some good points of contact to do this. Any experience with a particular epoxy you would recommend?

Thanks!!

Can't think of brand name, but the one use epoxy at Lowes is pretty good. I believe they have different strengths for you to choose from.
