Anyone got any set up tips for a dr500 specifically the sensitivity and file save type

Re: Blackvue DR500GW-HD DashCam Install

I have a Blackvue DR600GW and Power Magic Pro that I had installed in an Infiniti G35 coupe (with the fuse box at the driver's left foot) and now I'm moving it in to my new 2015 WK2. I'm at a bit of a loss as to where to put the power magic pro since our fusebox is by the battery. I really don't want it cluttering up my windshield.

One option is maybe to put the PMP in the fuse box and run the dashcam off of the roof console wires. I'll have to figure out how to get the PMP wired into the circuit properly though. Another thing I wondered about is whether putting the PMP in the center console would work. Yet another option would be to put it in the roof console but the problem with this is that I would have to pull the whole roof console out if I want to change the settings on the PMP.

If anyone has any thoughts I'm all ears. If I end up figuring out a good solution I'll post some pics.

Hmm what's the longest you've left it for? I often leave mine parked for 2 weeks in the park 'n fly and there's nothing worse than getting home in the dead of winter with a dead battery...

Re: Blackvue DR500GW-HD DashCam Install - 2014 Limited

That would be pushing it but why even bother with the power majic pro over that period as it would turn off in the first few days anyway..

I just installed a DR650GW-2CH with the Power Magic Pro in my 2015 WK2. I wired it up to the fuse box under the hood, ran the wires into the passenger foot-well, and stuck the PMP in the right side of the dash, next to the glove box. There's enough room in there for the PMP and the connectors.

It's not easy to change the settings on the PMP with it there, since you have to remove the trim piece on the side of the dash, but it wouldn't be difficult to put it in the glove box.

That is a great idea. Maybe I could just put the PMP in the fuse box and that way when I need to change settings I can just open the hood instead of taking the trim piece off. Was it difficult to run the wires into the passenger foot-well? Do you happen to have some pics?

Re: Blackvue DR500GW-HD DashCam Install

i really dont see the point of the power majic, unless you dont drive that often. the camera draws very little power overnight or when stopped for that matter. as i said above i have parked my car for days and have still not yet had a flat battery. if its your daily drive car its definately not needed.

It's basically peace of mind. Right now while the vehicle is new and the battery is in tip tip it's not really a concern I totally agree. I'm just OCD that way.

It was a bit of a pain, but the most frustrating part was getting the trim pieces back together fully.

Here's where the wire passes from the engine compartment to the foot-well:

Here's closer view (hard to see, but I punched it through the gasket next to the washer lines):

I didn't take the trim piece completely back off, but the PMP is back in here behind the coiled-up wires:

I agree, and I wouldn't have bought it if it didn't come in the bundle with the camera, but I figured I might as well use it since I had it.
