Re: BWoody Sway Links Install w/Pics & Impressions

make sure to be tightening them while the suspension has a load on it; wheels on the ground or ramps. or use a jack to compress it from below. just saying/

Re: BWoody Sway Links Install w/Pics & Impressions

Just installed my sway links today. . . had access to a lift and air tools. . . install took less than 90 minutes.

Ride improvement is palpable. None of the suspension's compliance and bump-absorbing qualities are affected, and the Summit now feels like it's on rails. The handling is improved at all speeds, almost all conditions. I have to say: this is probably one of the most significant mods anyone can do to their Jeep. It's not subtle -- it's impressive!

Re: BWoody Sway Links Install w/Pics & Impressions

Just finished my install.. Amazing results from just a short drive up and around on the freeway. Cloverleafs at speed are now enjoyable, and changing lanes and turning is vastly improved.

A must have for any WK2!

The road to my house is 3.4 miles of curves. I can't wait to get these on and see the change.

Re: BWoody Sway Links Install w/Pics & Impressions

this might be a moot point but why didn't the GC come from the factory with better sway bars?

Re: BWoody Sway Links Install w/Pics & Impressions

thanks for the writeup and review - this seems like something in will investigate adding. Coming from cars and bikes, the Wk2 feels like a handful in hard turns, even when accounting for its weight.

The sway bars are not changed with this, it just removes some slop in the links caused by the rubber used on the factory links. It's roughly the same as replacing suspension bushings with aftermarket polyurethane bushings though this change doesn't effect the comfort since the sway bar is still isolated from the chassis with it's support bushings.

Re: BWoody Sway Links Install w/Pics & Impressions

i guess what i mean is....this just seems like something Jeep could have done easily. why not put on the best bushings, rubber, etc from the factory because they are relatively cheap compared to other parts of the truck. Was it the rush to public? oversight? just a better design by BWoody? they sound like a must have. no voided warranties with these, right?

if automakers made everything perfect from the factory, cars would be prohibitively expensive and there would be no aftermarket .....

Re: BWoody Sway Links Install w/Pics & Impressions

Update:

I've now had the links in for about a month and a half and still have nothing but good things to say about them. This is absolutely the way the WK2 should have felt straight from the factory!

There is so much more balance when in the curves and a lot of the twitchyness has been eliminated when making steering corrections at higher speeds. Bottom line it just feels more planted or connected to the road. Highly recommended upgrade!

We had the Jeep on a 2 hr mountain drive on a twisty highway today and these sway links put a huge smile on my face the whole way there and the whole way back. It's almost strange how little body roll is now felt compared to stock.

Normally I wouldn't endorse a product this much but this mod is well worth the $ and improves the driving experience substantially...

PLUS... it's a wife-friendly mod

Re: BWoody Sway Links Install w/Pics & Impressions

it goes against every mechanically inclined bone in my body to ask this, but how much would an installation like this cost at a shop? Looking at my calendar, it looks like December before I could get around to something like this - and I'd like this mod beforehand.
