Cannot get front fascia off WK2

I have searched all of the threads I can find to learn how to remove the front fascia. I have removed the 2 rivits in each wheelwell and the bolts on each side holding the flair and interpanel. I have removed the 4 push pins holding the bottom of the fascia in place.

I cannot get the top of the fascia to release along the bottom of the grille and headlights. How do I get it to release?'

Thanks

Re: Cannot get front fascia off WK2

If you figure it out please post, I found several pins but couldn't get the top to budge. Went to the dealer and they couldn't do it either.

Re: Cannot get front fascia off WK2

If you are referring to the lower panel and grill vent, check out technosavant's thread below on the tow hook install. There are 6-8 tabs at the top edge that clip into the lower side of the bumper. They are a PITA to disengage and require a bit of force and finess so as to not tear the fascia.

If it is the front bumper, there is another thread or two perhaps titled wk2 grill or something similar.

Re: Cannot get front fascia off WK2

wjs81866: your comments make me so much better. I am not the only one having problems. I bought the 2012 WK2 to pull behind my camper. I have to get the facsia off so that I can install a base plate in order to be able to hook up my towbar.

Other posts seem to indicate that they did not have problems getting the clips to release. I took the fascia off of my 08 Liberty that had a very simular system with out problems. Not the case with the GC.

If anybody has "tricks" that they used to remove the fascha please post.

Re: Cannot get front fascia off WK2

Thanks for the post guys but this sucks... I felt like I was going to havee to tear the thing off. I'm too chicken to unlease the force on it.

I just can't get past one of the Jeep Utube videos with the guy showing how easy it was.

My ass...

Re: Cannot get front fascia off WK2

I GOT IT OFF!!!! What a PITA.

I used a flat stiff putty knife to pry out the clips below the grill. Then both ends were still attached. I could not get them to move. Finally I followed advise I found somewhere that said use lots of force, you will not damage it. That is what I did and the ends popped loose. The fenders seemed to flex a lot but are not damaged. I wiil take some pictures. If anyone is interest I will forward.

Thanks to all for thier help.

Re: Cannot get front fascia off WK2

I too saw that crazy Jeep video -- where the dude claims it can be removed in 3 min. "Not from what I've heard/read!" It probably gets easier every time. I use these to remove many panels, and they work excellent. You don't have to worry about scratching/marring your paint with metal.
