Curt receiver hitch?

Anyone install the Curt model receiver hitch on their 2012 grand cherokee? How does it look and does it sit low to the ground since all the pics i see seem to show it sit well under the bumper.

Re: Curt receiver hitch?

Purchased a Curt hitch rather than OEM, mainly due to cost. I do like the OEM look but so far only use it for a Yakima Holdup bike rack. The hitch is tucked right underneath the plastic bumper. I've already took the wk2 to several rocky trails and so far it hasn't even been nicked.

**FYI, I've used a cargo tray with this hitch for a camping trip and later realized the hot exhaust melted a small area of my ice cooler when strapped onto it. I was used to my old truck's exhaust tip facing to the ground. If it was an OEM hitch this probably wouldn't have happened since it sits 1-2 inches higher than aftermarket.

Besides this incident, I've been very satisfied with the hitch. Hope this helps.

Re: Curt receiver hitch?

Good post, been meaning to get a hitch but haven't gotten around to it. I really like the curves style they offer plus the price is great! I have looked and looked but can not find any wiring going to the back bumper for a hitch. I don't know if it is a 2012 thing, a Laredo thing or if mine just didn't come with it but I'll probably have to order the T harness to get the lights to work.
