True. But if you have sat behind a Dodge Durango lately it can't be much worse.

So just to try and clear things up here is how the lights work.

2011-2013:
NO LED running lights. Brake and turn signal are only on the outer housings. The liftgate only has a running light that does nothing more than burn steady when you put the parking or headlights on. All signaling is done by the outer housing bulb.

2014-2016:
Has LED running lights (that outer ring). Burns steady at all times when parking lights or headlights are on. ONLY the outer housing does brake and turn signaling same as the 2011-2013. The liftgate does nothing except have the LED running light. There is a bulb in there, but don't be fooled, it does nothing on domestic 2014-2016 WK2s.
ok i understand what you're saying now. and yeah, that is weird. seems like a wasted opportunity, but yeah james, that could be what happened. the design team did it assuming it would light up, but upon testing, caused road blindness for people following you so they killed it, heh. shrug.

With everything working... You can disconnect the extension. You want to disconnect it in a way so that the wire is longest from the taillight because we drop the wiring down below through the rear bumper.

You can see my extensions in this picture:

When looking down, you'll be able to see the ground or the top of your exhaust.

Just cut into them and added about 12 or so inches.
My black and red wire was too thick and I didn't like how it mated up. Just used white. I triple checked it to make sure I connected the correct wires lol.

Putting these in tomorrow

Did you push the OEM connector down?

If you're getting a bulb out then the resistor is bad.or something is wrong

Does this work for the 2016 Grand Cherokee 75th Anniversary? I want to swap mine out just want to make sure these exact parts and instructions apply to the 2016.
