Re: DIY: Interior Beltline Trim Removal / Wrap

FYI - The bolt for the trim piece to the left of the steering wheel is NOT accessible by just removing the trim ring around the steering wheel. So your directions are correct. Just finished the front dash and will complete the four doors tomorrow. Great product!

3m 1080 scotchprint carbon fiber black is what I used and is a great product. Forms easily with blow dryer.

Re: DIY: Interior Beltline Trim Removal / Wrap

I took this to the next level by taking the chrome piece off. I used a Dremel to carefully cut the melted plastic joints loose. I cut just enough to release the pieces, yet retain the locating tabs. When reinstalling, I didn't bother to re-glue or "weld" the pieces back together. I found that when they are reattached, there is plenty of support from the backing door panels and dash to support the chrome strip and keep it from moving. Extremely happy with this mod and glad someone came up with. The wood grain was just not me and my only gripe about the car. Now I have to figure out what approach I am going with the steering wheel.
For anyone wanting to do this, wrapping the pieces is really pretty easy. Heat is your friend. Just take your time taking everything apart.
Here are the pictures with the chrome still visible.

Nice Job! I wouldn't have the guts to remove the chrome pieces. I think the window switch plate on the armrest should be done as well.

Nice work Hemidog, looks real good! I can't decide if I like it better with or without the chrome showing.

Re: DIY: Interior Beltline Trim Removal / Wrap

I think I like it more with the Chrome.

A combination of that wrap with the chrome exposed, the SRT8 wheel/shift knob and you have the SRT 8 interior

Re: DIY: Interior Beltline Trim Removal / Wrap

I've got the SRT8 wheel and knob but have decided to keep the wrap as-is as I feel there is a little too much chrome going on for my tastes. Such a huge improvement over the standard overland orange wood grain - so worth it.
