Re: Easy Seat Belt Chime Turn OFF

The steps listed above worked on my 2014 Grand Cherokee.

(this is the Grand Cherokee forum, btw, in case you own a Cherokee)

Worked fine on my 2012.
Similar process worked fine in the past on my 2010 Subaru Legacy also.

Worst case, you could probably ask your friendly dealership to disable it for you with their scan-tool.

I wear mine all the time and so does the wife.

But it is very f'ing annoying to have the damn thing go nuts if your passenger needs to unbuckle for a minute or so to reach something in the rear seat.

Doubly so, when just backing out of the garage and the wife hasn't put on the seat belt yet (and down a 70 foot driveway).

I share your perspective, but you do realize you were replying to a comment made almost 3 years ago, right?

This also worked on my 2012 Wrangler. Dog is just heavy enough now to set it off. Front seat, back seat, front seat back seat. Chime, chime, chime. Don't mind her in the front seat, but if I forget to close the belt it would drive me nuts even if those beautiful blue eyes stared up at me when I pet her.

Dogs love Jeeps... I hate chimes. Now everyone is happy.

Thanks for the great information.

Re: Easy Seat Belt Chime Turn OFF

After following all the step in this thread to the letter and time interval, I'm still unable to turn it off... Even after getting the single chime at the end of the process..

Re: Easy Seat Belt Chime Turn OFF

This worked for me:
1. Get inside car with ignition off.
2. Close doors and buckle seat belt in drivers side.
3. Push the push start button to ACC/Run Mode (do not turn on engine). This means only push the push start button, no need to depress brake, doing so will turn engine on, a big no no.
4. Wait for red seat belt light to turn off.
5. Unbuckle and rebuckle seat belt at least 3 times ending with seatbelt buckled. ( I unbuckled and rebuckled 4 times and it worked)
6. Push the push start button (turns off display). You will hear a single chime if you succeeded.

Interesting. What's your model year?

I will note that while this technique does disable the *chime*, the *warning* still appears in EVIC (it can be dismissed by pressing the OK button)... at least that's how it operates on my 2014. Just wanted to check we are discussing the same consideration.

Re: Easy Seat Belt Chime Turn OFF

So does this have to be done every time you get in the car? ..seems easier just to buckleup

Haha, of course not. It's a nonvolatile setting that persists even when battery power is disconnected, firmware updates are flashed, etc.

It's great that Jeep offers an option to disable the nagging chime. For example, on some Toyotas, people have to disassemble the dash and cut out the chime speaker in order to get relief from this annoyance. I'd hate to have to go to those lengths.

[QUOTE=Roadkill;1213770]Interesting. What's your model year?

MY14 Built on May 9th 2014.
Agree the "Warning" on the EVIC will remain.

I'll try Jacko15's steps tonight and see how I go..
