Ask your salesman, there should be a defeat setting, where you may discover that it defaults to back on every time you start the car due to the "benefits"
A better time to have brought it up with the salesman would have been before writing any checks.
The start/stop feature's benefit is that it gets a few brownie points related to EPA gas mileage. Unfortunately, expect to see it spread to more vehicles and possibly even be created so it can't be turned off.
It is a nice feature on hybrids--on non-hybrids, thank your government for taking care of you whether you wanted/needed it or not.
