Re: Front Axle & Transfer Case Skidplates Install

Hello all,

So spring is approaching and I am looking forward to my new project; skid plates:
I know I need the four sets;
1) Front axle skid plate Mopar part#82211994AB. $77
2) Tranfer case skid plate Mopar part#82211995. $80
3) Fuel tank skids R/L Mopar part# 82211999. $232
4) Skidstrip Transfercase Mopar part# 68069365AA $57
(Prices are just a rough Internet search)

So I think I am set for this! Even when there is more difference in the available parts: http://www.factorychryslerparts.com/...ssembly=574774

My question is:
While searching for "skid plates" I found some for the front suspension itself. I can't find a number for it,but it looks like its mounted under knuckle.
It is the 21 on the picture http://www.moparpartsworldwide.com/i...&image=WA11345

I haven't recognized under my car, or may be just not able to identify it. Could somebody help me with this.

Thanks
Alex

Anyone come up with any info on this? I've installed these so far and curious about this "unknown" skid plate.

1) Front axle skid plate
2) Tranfer case skid plate
3) Fuel tank skids R/L
4) Skidstrip "Fuel lines"

That thread says nothing about that I'm referring to. There was some mention about a skid plate for the suspension as well. Nobody seems to have any information if its a part that was actually made or what the part number is.

While searching for "skid plates" I found some for the front suspension itself. I can't find a number for it,but it looks like its mounted under knuckle.

Re: Front Axle & Transfer Case Skidplates Install

I just got in the mail 3 for the price of two.
Got the Front Skid Plate part # 82211994AB
Got the Transfer Case Skid Plate Part #82211995 and this kit includes the Fuel Bundle Skid Plate.
YEahhhhhhh.
Now just need the Fuel tank Skid Plates.
In my case I had to take the braces off and the plastic cover over the fuel lines towards the tank. All bolts where in the car already but use the new one just for the making sure it was all new.
No way I could install the braces
Instruction Manual #K6860752AB and K6860751.

Finished my installation today. An easy job actually but man, are these skid plates heavy.

I agree, no way to mount the braces together with the plates.

Anybody an idea what the purpose of the piece of weight on the transfer case plate is?

Re: Front Axle & Transfer Case Skidplates Install

So that part of the plate does not vibrate.
At least that is what I think

Re: Front Axle & Transfer Case Skidplates Install

Yeah I believe that "weight" on the trans case plate is for insulation to keep from making noise.

From the looks of the image on the Jeep website, at least the smaller "support brace" should remain and is bolted between the skid plate and the frame. Maybe I'm looking at it wrong.

Does this image have the skid plates installed on the GC?

Re: Front Axle & Transfer Case Skidplates Install

Looking at the pic, it appears that skid plates are installed. But, when I installed mine, there is no way I could fit back the support brace (the one that is over the exhaust pipe).
