Frustated by MOPAR supply chain/Rock Rails

So - before Christmas wanted to order rock rails for the '12 GC Overland - 59 were on back order, so I did not place an order.

After Christmas at the beginning of January, inquired and finally ordered the rock rails, with an ETA of delivery of January 31st. Today I called & was told they won't show up until at least February 13th. Apparently there still are none in the pipeline, and I'll be amazed if they even show up by March or April.

Just finding the experience very frustrating as you would think there would be some type of stock or production.

Thanks for letting me vent!

Did you ask your dealer to do a search ?? I had gone through the same process (ordered mine in December):mad: and then I had my dealer look around to see if anyone actually has them,, well low and behold there was a dealer in Illinois that had TWO sets, I could have ordered from them direct but I would have had to pay for shipping , so to get my dealer to order them I had to pay for them in full and they came in a week!!! , and installed 1 day later ;), the bigest kicker to the story is that they didnt even come from the dealer in Illinois !!,,

So what I would recommend is going or calling your local dealer and have them do the same! it worked for me , Good Luck!

Not to rub it in but these are mine!:D

You guys! The rock rails were meant to rub

Actually in December - Milous and my dealership found some rock rails, but the shipping costs were about $140 to my location on top of the price of the rock rails - thought that was a bit steep. On the other hand, I would have had them installed for a month by now too.

Bart Man - yours look good on your rig. I've seen Alaska-Hwy JK's before.

Thanks!,, but they can ship dealer to dealer, for free,, the dealer will pick up the cost! If you want them the other dealers can't horde them up, it worked for me!

If Chrysler generates the order (for something in stock over a year at a dealership), they ship under a special handling order and don't charge for shipping. Otherwise what I was told is that the customer has to pay freight from one location to their own dealership.

The only rock rails in stock were in Norwood, Massachusetts and at Westbury Jeep in Jericho, NY. Total of two rock rails in stock nationwide!

:(

Frikking Mopar! Now I am pissed.

Rock rail delivery supposedly now pushed back (again) till February 20th.
I am close to pulling the plug and just buy the RRO Supersliders, this is ridiculous.

Totally non professional - this has been going on since before Christmas.

I get your mad but you need to remember Mopar probably isn't making them they come from a vendor who isn't getting them made maybe because they weren't expecting to see such demand. Jeep has since its inception been a "multiplayer" proposal when they were built for the army there were at least 3 manufacturers building them (Willys,Ford and GM) ...I seem to remember 5 but can't for the life of me spit out the last two

Think Outside !- No Box Required.

Not likely!

The "Trailhawk" rockrails are even harder to find!

As of 2/5/13 there is one pair available in an east coast Mopar warehouse and no expected delievery date for more??

Mopar part #82213525
MSRP $895.00
Dealer Cost $671.00
Weight 49lbs.

Good luck getting a set of those anytime soon!

Guys, thanks didn't mean to come off so whiny. Unfortunately, patience has never been one of my virtues. Well over 3 months so far of trying to find some rails.

By the way last I checked, there was only one set of the Trailhawk rock rails in the system nationally.

The part # is 82213525. What is interesting is they are charging $895.00 retail for these versus $850 MSRP for the tubular rock rails. I haven't seen the Trailhawk rails in person but they don't look nearly as substantial nor do they stick out as far as the ones I've been trying to buy.

What really puts me off is my Jeep dealership telling me they have ETA dates, and it is constantly being pushed back. I highly doubt they are manufacturing many and I knew they came from a vendor.

The farce continues - pushed back ETA date to March 5th. This is the 4th time this Jeep dealership has told me the estimated delivery date has been pushed back. As far as I can tell, the vendor who makes these is in question as there is virtually no supply anywhere.

Time for me to quit bitching and look into the aftermarket rails instead. No more patience for vapor products. I told the dealership it would be better to tell customers there is no supply available and none in sight, then lie to their customers and continually push back the delivery estimates every 2 weeks. What a crock!

Man what a shame ! Cant believe this ,I just called also the other day and heard the same story! Yet nobody can explane ! I wish you luck in finding something, RR look pretty nice , just not too many choices !:confused:

Update on the update update.

Supposedly the rails are supposed to be in now on March 13th per my dealership - I still wonder if the Jeep vendor is even producing these things. I find it odd to see how rare they are in the real world. After the 13th comes - if the rails are not here - I am going to order after market finally as I am definitely NOT the most patient person in the world. It's already been a 4 month wait at least.

Just so you guys all know, Kernersville Jeep has zero stock and they are on back order. They said 69 rock rails are on back order as of today, and when I gave her the Trailhawk rockrail part #, they were non existent as well.

I knew I had seen this same link a couple months ago, the lady said she would get someone there to zero it out on Amazon.

If anyone finds these at a dealership, please let me know.

In total frustration, I spoke with my friend who owns the Jeep dealership where I do much of my service work - he is checking with Jeep to find out if a vendor change occurred, or why the supply pipeline for the rock rails is broken.

I basically told him I don't appreciate vaporware and that I needed to know if there is any chance of getting this soon - otherwise I'd have to go aftermarket.

He is supposed to be calling me back later and he was mad at his parts department guys for not calling me with status updates every week! Hopefully I get somewhere, I've even bugged Milous about this in the past and he helped me find out there were none in the system.

OMG - called dealership parts dept. this afternoon and they have a release date for the rock rails!!!

A promise date is coming soon (they will provide shipping details and date). After I heard that, I asked the parts manager for a promise ring (I was being sarcastic). Finally hope at the end of a very long tunnel. We'll see if this actually happens but it looks a lot more favorable.
