Re: Frustated by MOPAR supply chain/Rock Rails

You may want to wait a little bit before you install that tape ,, when i get in and out of my Jeep my leg will rub on the bar , dont know if I would like that rubbing on my leg or any of my guest legs for that matter , imho you may just want to wait a week or so ,, or just install a narrower strip right on top??

If I do apply the non skid tape on top of the outside bar, it will only be 2 inches wide and only where foot falls might occur. I want to see how slick they are without the tape first.

Re: Frustated by MOPAR supply chain/Rock Rails

Does anyone have a suggestion to seal the end cap of the rock rails? The sill covers were not used by the installing dealership, so want to assure no rust on the rails. I have to call dealership this morning to see if the sill covers have been discovered.

I was thinking I could use some spray insulation and cut off the edge - or trying to spray end of cap with Rhino lining - or possibly machining some type of cap or neoprene boot.

Thanks for any help or tips. Worst case scenario I could reorder the sill covers and make the cuts necessary to attach (charging the dealership for the parts).

Re: Frustated by MOPAR supply chain/Rock Rails

I ended up using clear Plasti Dip, to spray the opening on the front end of the rock rails this afternoon. The rubberized coating should help protect against the elements, especially with the flat splash guards butting up against the end of the rail.

I also put non skid tape on the outside rails near the doors this afternoon.

Re: Frustated by MOPAR supply chain/Rock Rails

(Here is an update to this old thread.) I put in an order for rock rails today at a local dealer. He said that there was a supply of 53 shipping in a couple weeks and there are 57 on order. He said I might get one of the 53. My price was $649 which is a lot less than the price from third party suppliers. I have not decided what to do about installation. They quoted me $250 for installation which may be worth it.

Good luck on the installation, you will love the rock rails! PITA to install though.
