I love the efficiency of my EcoDiesel. Does anyone have direct experience with a WK2 winch install and the potential impact on mileage?

Thanks,
JP

Mixed/city driving, you might see some reduction in MPG due to the added weight.

Highway driving, mileage should remain the same.

I replaced my OEM Michelin tires (with only 27k on them, worn out) with Goodyear Wranger A/T w/Kevlar tires. Same exact OEM size, but 1" wider tread and 4lbs per tire more weight.

Around the Twin Cities I have seen about 1.5mpg drop. However on the highway, even with the Jeep fully loaded (and a cooler on a cargo rack in back), I can still achieve 25mpg (1mpg better than it's rated!).

So....
More aggressive tires that weigh more AND hauling a full load and I still achieve better MPG than the factory rating.

However, towing a light trailer reduces the MPG on the highway....

What do you need the winch for? I ask because my MY13 JGC is currently getting a RRO bumper bar and a winch installed along with a Chief Products lower front guard and sump plate and most people that NEED/USE a winch don't worry about if it affects their mpg because their vehicle is already loaded down with other gear and plating and non stock aggressive tread tires etc. I need a winch because I get 0 mpg if I'm stuck.

I am not doing an over the top build. I added the skid plates, have a sleep platform, and will be adding rro sliders. That's it. That's why winch is a necessity. Will be doing trail riding, etc. solo and this will be much easier to get stuck than my jku (which has two winches that get used a lot, mostly helping others :). Using my wk2 summit for over-landing adventures, which in my case is 90%+ on-road. Like to be able to cover long distances quickly, efficiently, and without excessive fatigue. 12-14h driving days are common. I like to do 2000mile round trips in 3-4 days.

Read through "Zybane's Arctic Diesel Build" thread in the diesel forum. He added the RRO bumper and winch to his Summit along with oversize tires and a bunch of other cool stuff. I remember him saying he took a mileage hit but I can't remember how much. If you don't find it in the thread you might try contacting Zybane directly.
